When I called to book my appointment, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made me look forward to my visit even more.
Unfortunately, my experience in-store didnât match my expectations. Upon arrival, I mentioned that I was there to look at dresses, and a sales associate immediately snapped, âYou need an appointment.â When I replied that I had a 1 PM appointment, her attitude quickly shiftedâbut that initial interaction left me feeling unwelcome. In hindsight, I should have taken it as a sign to leave.
Cathy was the associate assigned to help me. She asked me a few question regarding the wedding itself and of course my budget. I mentioned Iâd like to stay around the $800 price range. She was helpful in pulling dresses and colors that fit my preferences, and I was escorted to a lovely fitting room. However, after that, I was essentially left on my own. Thankfully, I had my other sonâs girlfriend with meâher guidance on fit, color, and style was far more helpful than anything I received from the staff.
Cathyâs attention quickly shifted to another client in the fitting area, as multiple sales associatesâincluding a male associateâgathered around to assist her. Seriously, three sales associates were hoovering over this client. Meanwhile, Cathyâs involvement in my appointment was limited to zipping and unzipping my dresses. The disparity in attention was disappointing. Julia Roberts "Pretty Woman" movie immediately came to mind.
I did find a dress I loved. But after being treated as an afterthought rather than a valued customer, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Cathy knew I was interested in a particular dress and promised to follow up with the order time frame that same day⌠I never heard from her.
At the end of the day, shopping for something as special as a Mother of the Groom dress should feel exciting and memorable in the best way. Unfortunately, that wasnât my experience here. From the words of Julia Roberts: Big...

I am 50s+ female from CA and was traveling through the Carolinas. I was prepared for the heat, but not the humidity. I needed a new wardrobe stat!
I researched online and discovered a number of boutique shops in Raleigh. Apparently, I started at the wrong end of the village, as I spent 1+ hours searching through racks at other boutiques before finally making my way to Kannon's. Note: some of the other boutiques had good selections, but all seemed to be geared toward a much younger crowd.
I was lucky to be approached by Francesca (might also go by Francine as I think that's what her card said). She asked what type of occasions I would need outfits for and immediately came up with selections that fit my body type and my sense of style. There were a few that made it to the reject pile - either because they didn't fit exactly right or were unflattering. In either case, it was Francesca who gave them the thumbs down, which I definitely appreciate.
I have never found a boutique with so many different styles and with such a helpful staff.
I am tempted to fly back solely for the purpose of being able to shop...

We were really excited to shop for a dress for my mom for my wedding in Asheville this fall. You completely destroyed that moment in time for the both of us. Your staff should be ashamed of how they treat people. I never leave reviews.. but I wouldnât want anyone else to walk in here and walk out feeling less than. How sad my mom was after broke my heart.
*disclosure- we were wearing workout clothes today. I know, what a crime in the village district. *
In the words of Julia Roberts - â Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.â And so do the 250 other people going to my wedding. I will make sure...
