Platform is a very middle of the road experience, but for what you pay I’d say it’s starting to lack. The building and staff were great when the building first opened, but as they’ve found their groove some things have slipped away. The dog park is often out of bags, dog poop often covers the grounds around the facilities, the amenities are often closed for various reasons, the construction next door is loud and goes into odd hours of the night, the construction trash makes its way onto platform property, etc. The location is in a nice, quiet neighborhood but can be a bit of a hike to places you’d visit downtown since there’s no direct path over the train tracks. I encourage you to shop around as there are nicer places $300-$500 cheaper in and around downtown.
Arguably, the best part of my apartment is the view of downtown. Unfortunately I haven't been able to enjoy that view as much because my windows weren’t properly sealed and have streaks on the inside of the window panes, which is mainly just visible at night.
The leasing office is great until you let them know you aren’t renewing. Then it’s a little less hello’s (which I was warned about from other residents prior to it happening). I was also removed from the community email chain the day I let them know I wouldn’t be renewing even though I had over 2 months left of my lease. Speaking of renewals, when mine came around I let them know the rate for my specific floor plan is wayyyy higher than other property’s in the area. They didn’t do anything about it, but when my apartment was re-listed online it was posted for $100 less than what I was paying monthly (still more expensive than almost every other building that is also still offering 2 months free rent).
The only big issue I have with Platform is that there are people who have FOBs to the building that don’t actually live in the building. For example, I saw the owner of the yoga studio underneath FOB into the building even though I’m 99% sure she isn’t a resident here. Again, I encourage you to shop around before signing a lease as there are nicer places $300-$500 cheaper in and around downtown. Although, if you do choose to live here, you will not have a terrible experience and the...
Read moreI just renewed my lease because my experience at Platform has been truly wonderful, thanks to the kind leasing agents, responsive maintenance crew, and the brand-new building and amenities. It’s not perfect, but no place is, and the team here has bent over backwards to address any issues.
I initially chose Platform because it’s a new build with no carpeting, which was important since my sister has severe environmental allergies to things like mold and I wanted her to have a safe place to stay. She’s never had any symptoms while staying overnight, which is huge.
When I had a minor bathroom flooding issue, the Platform team took it seriously. Kyle brought in commercial-grade dehumidifiers, inspecting everything with a moisture meter and infrared camera, and even peeling up the vinyl flooring in several areas to show me there was no residual moisture. The maintenance team has always been quick and thorough.
Also, the leasing agents are literally some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. I'm not sure what's in their coffee but it's got to be stronger than what I'm getting at the communal coffee bar. They’re amazing and always happy to help, whether it’s printing something out for me or putting on fun events for residents.
Now for the bad: If you're on a lower level and facing the train tracks, you will occasionally hear the train. The Amtrak is quiet, but the long-haul freight train runs at night and those brakes were the bane of my existence for a while. But for what you’re getting, it’s absolutely worth it. I arm myself with earplugs and a white noise machine, sleeping easy knowing I’m living in a beautiful, well-maintained apartment near downtown at a reasonable price.
Overall, I highly recommend Platform to anyone looking for a modern place with an incredible leasing and maintenance team. Also very LGBTQ+ friendly, I've met some other queer folks on my floor and love the presence...
Read moreI moved to Platform almost 2 months ago and have mostly enjoyed my stay here! The leasing staff and maintenance have always responded quickly and have been very friendly. The amenities offered, the interior design of the entire building, and my unit layout have been a few of my favorite things about Platform.
A downside for me is that the trains have been more bothersome than I initially anticipated. During my in-person tour here, I fell in love with one of the units that had a nice view of downtown, but also of the train tracks. I was very concerned about this, but was assured by my leasing specialist that the trains ran only in the daytime and that most people get accustomed to it. I ended up choosing one of these units because I loved the view and was not going to be home during work hours anyways. However, I learned that that was not the case. The amtrak train runs from 6am - ~10-11pm every few hours especially on the weekdays. The amtrak is really not that much of a nuisance for me and has become more of a background noise. However, I am most bothered by a freight train that passes through every night between 2-3am and sometimes around 4am too. That train is so much louder than the amtrak and lasts for a straight 3-5 minutes, enough to wake someone up. I'm a pretty deep sleeper too, but this freight train makes the most unpleasant metal against metal screeching noises as the wheels are rubbing against the tracks. If I had known about this earlier, I would definitely not have chosen of these units. I don't blame the leasing specialists, since they're not the ones who live here and experience everything at night, but it's a real let down. I honestly really love everything else about this apartment, but my sleep quality has not been the best since moving here. I would recommend this apartment, but would not recommend choosing the units facing the tracks if you are...
