4.7/5 - I was expecting a bit more meat like the others photos, but it was very little so if you order the char siu, do remember to ask for double or triple the meat cause a few bite in, all is left is rice & I eat like a chirping bird too Lol 😅. The rice seem to be a bit oily for me also, but def good rice not dry like other places!! Chicken kando sandwich was good with the bread (cripsy outside & fluffy inside), but the potato chip & chicken were a little salty for me, and I think they forgot about it cause it got a bit cold when I received it. They were super busy though for only 2 people working on a Sunday Lunch. The Jasmine tea was really good. Balance out all the oiliness that I ate. Definitely would order again $5 The wait time was 40 minutes to receive my food, so if you’re in a hurry, you should order ahead and pickup & eat there or take it to go since it came in a to go container anyway. 4.5/5 UPDATE Dinner: after years being away, they've updates their menu. Fingerling is like a secret food for lunch for me now lol as it is not even on the menu anymore. 10/10 really delicious Matcha lemonade is now my go to order. I love the african dude with big bun & girl that make her cute hair up like yoyoyo making mine. 10/10 Oyster & Tar Cube Tuna: it was good, not like omg! But the oyster surlrise me with a yuzu (ithink) that is more sour then other I've try but no seafood taste smell for me which I like for $18. The tuna was in a soy sauce & fried garlic that I haven't seen before. It was delicious, again ain't no omg! But for an appetizer, it was good. Do not think it is a sashimi kind, doesn't taste like at all, not sweet like a beef tartar either. Try it if you curious. Definitely will eat again, now that I know what it taste like. On the expensive side but the portion for the tuna was nice 👌👌 They now close off the cafe during dinner time, so be prepare. The chef was nice lol he gave me a freebie seeing how Im like a big & ate too much here đŸ€§đŸ˜Ș Chicken congee - mind blowing, omg. Try it! I was kind of surprise as I wanted to try for something light, but this congee beat all the other restaurant around imo. Wish they also have the cafe during dinner as well >_<

I'm rarely ever compelled to write a review, but I am just that impressed by this place! I had the matcha latte (with regular sweetness) and char siu pork belly for lunch, as pictured. I was expecting the drink to take the spotlight and the food to take a back seat, but I was pleasantly surprised to realize that both were executed to perfection. The frothiness and vibrancy of the matcha were on point--you can tell from the rich green color that the matcha they use is of high quality. And the frothiness comes from good whisking form. Those bubbles lasted to the very bottom of the mug! The char siu pork belly was pure indulgence and comfort. The meat was tender and juicy, and the sauce was sweet, but not too sweet. The best part for me was the ratio of ingredients. There was just enough sauce to mix in with the rice and get a wonderful flavor throughout (I'm someone who typically eats around the rice). And the cabbage and egg anchored the whole thing. To top it all off, service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. No negatives to share based on my first visit. I will be back!

Food was good. Customer service was terrible. Went in to pick up an online order and we were already 10 min later than the scheduled time. The barista didn't look at me or talk to me or even just say hi when I walked in. I proceeded to ask about my order and she simply said "it's not ready". No more communication at all. 10 min later I asked again how long it's gonna take and she said she didn't know. Then she said they had a printer issue that caused the delay and that's something that she couldn't control. So... why didn't you lead with that? Only 3 people were dining in when I came in. Food finally came out 25 min later than the scheduled pick up time.

All the stars went to food. Char siu sandwich and scallion omelette are delicious, but probably won't come back. Hope the owners will see all the negative reviews complaining about the waiting time and customer service and make some change.

Edit after the reply: I completely understand that businesses, especially local and minority owned, can have very hard time during the pandemic, but as all the other people who left similar reviews mentioned, it's not a single case. If anything, businesses should be able to better the service during the special times - not trying to be demanding, just think customers can also be affected by the pandemic. I agree that reaching out to owners is a good way to communicate issues but other potential customers should be aware that this is an existing problem that should be taken into consideration when they choose...

This place is aesthetically pleasing and the Taiwanese inspired food menu is pretty darn good, but operationally they have a lot they could do better. The first is how long it takes to order and get your coffee after you order. Be prepared for a 10-15 min wait just to get your drink, regardless of how many baristas are there (they seem to have several) or how busy the restaurant is. It seems like meandering and slow is their method of operation, and there's zero sense of urgency.

While the food is great, I'm docking a star for the incredibly inconsistent hours in which they serve food. For instance, at noon on Sunday the kitchen was closed, which to me seems like another huge operational miss (and probably why the store was only half full on a day when tons of people are milling around downtown). Have the operators of this spot never heard of Sunday brunch or recognize that people want to eat during those hours? At the very least then make the hours of your food service clear on the website or Google page so patrons don't come in and get disappointed.

When I have ordered their food, it's always been good but again expect very slow and disorganized service (they don't take names so it's hard to tell when yours is ready vs someone else when you order the same item). I think there's a ton of potential for this place hence the 4 stars, but a lot of simple issues that with some leadership and organization could result in a much smoother and better experience...
