Foam City — Local services in Ranson

This is 100% honest review, so buckle up. I've been visiting this store both personally and with my daughter on occasion for about a year now. Over past 6 months, it's become probably 2-3 times a week as I've become a Pokemon reseller/collector/grader myself for secondary income. At first, I too was surprised at "sticker price" on some items and let's be clear, this is not usually the place to go for "rock bottom" pricing, but that comes with some huge positive trade offs and reasons. First off, for gods sake JUST TALK TO THEM if you want to try and negotiate because they are incredibly open to it! They are a very "old school" style shop that's very big on; "making a deal", haggling, trading, etc, so it's all about communication! In addition, I've sold cards to many shops and I've NEVER gotten more trade in value than what Foam City offers. If their cash offer didn't make you happy, ask for a mix of trade + cash and you'll always walk out happy. Now will that box, card, whatever ultimately end up being a little over retail or comp? Sometimes yes, but it's worth it to have so many options including vintage sets right there in front of you for you to hold in your hands and examine.

They also stand by their products and wanting their customers to be happy, especially on larger purchases. I've both witnessed it and had it given to me.

Got kids with you, "here's a free pack/card, thanks for coming back".

Got f'ed over on an expensive product you opened in store and got no pulls? "Aww man I got you, here's this other product on the house, cant have you spend that much and not get sh*t."

They helped you pick a card to grade, but then it comes back a 6 cause we all miss something? "Sorry to hear that man, let me give you a crazy deal on this fresh banger of a card so you feel good about it"

Now I'm not saying these things are guaranteed, and it's not like this is their black and white operating procedure, but the fact that they are willing to do these sorts of things AT ALL...

I stumbled upon this when looking to rekindle my love for Pokémon card collecting, I soon got my entire family involved and my wife started collecting Baseball Cards. Their inventory is immense and customer service is exceptional! They help seek out rare cards and collectibles as they operate in multiple locations, one location in Ocean City and another in Winchester. My wife is from Texas and loves the Rangers, they go above and beyond to help her collect Texas Rangers sport card collectibles. They also notify me whenever a hot item comes across their table. They inspect and package cards for shipping out to PSA for grading. They also cater to football and basketball trading. Their prices are great as they do their market research to ensure that prices are not overly inflated or unjust. Trading and selling from my personal collection is always fair. The staff even allow you to open your purchases to see your pulls and they even provide mediation for trading amongst patrons. For instance I opened a Tier 1 Topps Collectable box and so did another customer. We both hit some seriously great cards and the other gentleman hit a solid card from the Rangers and I hit a Corbin Carroll relic card. Luckily both cards were in the same price range for a return on investment. They provided superb mediation between me and the other customer leading to a successful and fair trade.
