My friend HIGHLY recommended this shop, so I drove up from Frederick, MD. I got there at 11am. The place is beautiful. I just knew they weren't gonna set me up like they did. I got my pedicure first. It was fine. Nothing to rave about. For my nails, I told him I wanted a simple pink and white ombre with glitter as I had an event in PA that night and I wanted something a little subtle. He said with confidence that he could do it. He didn't start my nails until around 12ish and he did not finish til after 1:30pm!!! I needed to be home by 1 to leave for PA on time so I was already flustered thinking about how it was taking so long and his method of ombre was not technique I had seen a tech do before. I was trying to remain hopeful and trust the process. Next thing I know, he said he was finished. The nails LOOKED HIDEOUS. They were not shaped well, they were lumpy and looked like press-ons...and the ombre....I can't even call it ombre. Before I left, I said, "I'm in a rush. They look terrible. Can I come back tomorrow to get them fixed." The tech said, "why, they are beautiful." 🥴 I said, what time can I be back tomorrow. He told me to come back by 8. I knew that was off because what nail shop is open til 8 on a sunday??? Needless to say, I went back at 3 the next day and asked for Theresa (as my best friend advised). She was there but obviously too busy because they put another lady on my nails who proceeded to shame me for not saying I didn't like it, two nails in. I tried to explain to her that it had taken so long and I was in a rush as I was almost there for 3 hours, I did not have time to start over, plus his technique was different so I was trusting the process since he was so confident that he could do it.
Anyway, pictured is what I got and now, 7 days later they are already lifting. I am NOT going back to have them fix it again. Hopefully, I can dispute with my bank because this is crazy. If only the service/work was as good as...
Read moreThe issue with this place is the pressure management puts on the nail techs to speed up their process. Quality is important, the job of the beauty industry isn't just to make people pretty. Beauty is wellness, cleanliness... If you don't do these things right your health is in the balance, that's why we go to professionals. This place doesn't uphold that standard. (That being said, my sister's tech wasnt bothered and provided a great service to my sister)
Details: *Salon mangement -Rushed my check-in. I wasn't even late. I have dyslexia, so reading the self check-in was hard... -took too many walk-ins, tons of clients at unstaffed stations. *Service -skipped a few prep work steps -cut off thumb of her glove. thumb was swollen and nailbed was black, but I don't know why. -tips too small, didn't check size before gluing -not conscious of UV light use. cured each nail to avoid cleaning brush (my hands match, but there are different colors on each finger) -scraped my fingers and hands with cuticles scissors to remove polish instead of acetone. Told me to finish cleaning up by myself when I got home. -elected to take a walk-in before my nails were done. took 20 minutes less than my sister's service... Basically took 25 minutes in general. -charged me ~2x more than website listed *Finished: -cuticles flooded with top coat. My surrounding skin/fingertips are stuck to my nails, but they're already somehow lifting -Lumpy acryllic, uneven top coat, dry skin. *Updates: Day 1: skin peeling on finger tips. Day 7: hurts. Skin peeling around nail. Day 10: pinky came off. top coat is pulling my cuticles as my nails grow, the cuticles are turning purple/red Day 11: soaked off with acetone, tried really hard to clean them up and moisturize my skin. After: nails peeling on the free edge despite being short. cuticles bleeding. Fungus under nails/spread to my scalp, behind my ears, face,...
Read moreWent for a bikini wax as my preferred salon closed. It was awful. NEVER AGAIN! I called to make sure I didn’t need an apt and was told I could walk in. When I arrived, I was instructed (by a man who seemed nervous) to check in at the kiosk. After I checked in, he walked me halfway back to the waxing room and stopped to talk with a woman who was doing a manicure on another customer. I don’t know what they said, as it was not English, but the lady was obviously not happy and made a gesture towards the other side of the salon. I got the impression she was telling the man that she was busy and another worker could preform the wax. I was then escorted back to the waxing room and told to wait. No paper on the table, no sheet to cover up with and the room was filthy. So I waited there with my clothes on and the door open. A very young woman came in, looking timid and nervous. She put paper on the table and told me to undress and she would return shortly. But she never gave me anything to cover up with and the waxing room opens right into the salon….meaning I would be exposed to the whole place when she came in! Luckily I had a hoddie to throw over me. Through the whole waxing process she seemed nervous, almost like she doesn’t do this on a regular basis. At one point she even said “This part makes me so nervous” as she was working “farther down” and said “Don’t worry, your skin is just red, but it’s ok, nothing is wrong”. After she was done, she stayed in the room with me while I put my clothes back on and we walked out together 🤯. When I got home and checked myself out, I was able see hardly any hair had been removed and what had been taken off was uneven. I will not be returning for any further services. Ever. It was poorly done, more expensive, and less professional than...
