When you sign up for a massage, you should let them know if you have been popping Advil like candy all week because your body hurts. If you think you MIGHT bruise easily, you should tell them that. You should take the medical form seriously. If you donāt, you may walk away pretty bruised up. That picture is my arm after my massage. Communication is key. I still rate them 5 stars. I had a huge knot right there and she was trying to work it out. I never felt any pain at all. I was honestly shocked that I bruised up like that. Anyway, the rest of my body felt great after she was done. My lower back was killing me when I came in and when she was done, it didnāt bother me the rest of my trip. She also helped me pick out some awesome facial products and numbered them for me. I think her name was Lina.
Another young lady did my facial. Iām so mad I canāt remember her name. Lovely girl with braids, soft spoken. I will see if they have a staff list online and maybe I can find out her name that way. Anyway, my face was bright red and inflamed. She took one look at my skin and knew exactly what I needed. I was also burning up and she hooked up a fan for me and decided to skip the hot stuff. She brought out some cold tools and it was heaven. The calm skin care line is out of this world. I brought some home. This stuff didnāt break my skin out, which is a miracle because most everything does.
I also want to say that as a bigger person with mobility issues, both of these ladies were very accommodating. I have metal plates, rods and screws in my body and they were gentle with those spots. I did have a nice experience here. I guess Iām writing this as a review and a warning. You should be honest about ALL your medical issues, ALL the medications you are taking and lastly how much you have been drinking.
Lastly, it was a little embarrassing that no robes were available that fit me. If you are bigger than an XL, you may want to let them know in advance that you are plus size. That is what I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGot a gel manicure 2 weeks ago and it still looks great! I normally struggle to find a manicure that lasts two weeks, but I also haven't been working with my hands as much as I was on vacation.
Pro: No harsh chemical odor noted with the actual application Staff was pleasant Quiet environment
Cons: Cost- the manicure is more expensive ($60) but like I said above it still looks good at 2 weeks. If it holds me more then 2 weeks the cost may be justified. The chairs you sit in/set up- the chairs are a bit low for the table where you put your hands for the painting. These leads to you scrunching you shoulders up for 45 minutes. My recommendation to the facility would be higher chairs OR little side tables next to the chairs where you can put your hand into the UV light while the other hand is being worked on. The actual space of the manicurist to work on is quite small and seems a bit cluttered. 3.Gel nail color selection could be expanded, there were really only 2 colors of the ones on the wall that I was interested in. The wall looks full, but many are duplicate colors.
My final comment would be for the facility to offer sunscreen to put in your hands before the UV light. I did ask if there were an open samples of products they sell and I was given a small packet to use which was great. It would just be a nice touch, especially if they want repeated clients to show consciousness of the potential...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stumbled upon Avenue Apothecary & Spa a number of years ago when they first open and when I realized they offer massage services, I scheduled a massage for the next day. It was truly the best massage I had ever had and I get massage treatments quite often. I convinced the rest of my family to make appointments that same week and now every summer we each book at least two or three while we are in Rehoboth Beach. This past year I went into my massage with my knees aching with the pain of arthritis and as the therapist massaged my legs, she used a special product that I didn't think very much about until later that night, when I realized that I was walking on the boardwalk literally pain-free. I couldn't wait to get back to the store so I could buy a tube of the product that originally snubbed my nose to. I've used it several times since I've been home and each time with the same excellent results. It's almost time to order more. Avenue Apothecary is the real deal and their products are truly impressive and worth trying. Their staff is very knowledgeable - all I have to do is tell them my ailment and they know what I type of product I need. I can't wait to get back there. Of course, now I have to make sure I schedule my massage appointments before the rest of my family. Oh, and their prices have always been and continue to be...
