Had a very unfortunate service experience at Blackwall Hitch/ Blackwall at the Beach in Rehoboth. Firstly, I'd like to genuinely thank the bartender, Shandra, for being the lovely, customer focused individual that she is (this review would be a single star if it wasn't for her). This restaurant has the ability to be an amazing spot as the food was delicious, however the service in the dining room failed miserably all around. The host who had our phone number and was also informed that we would wait at the bar for our table never contacted us, we were quoted 30 minutes and by 40 minutes we approached the host to inquire about how much longer the wait would be and the response was "oh, I could sit you now". Our server took 20 minutes to initial greet us, also too busy/ overworked to even bring water and had another server drop off the bottle of water (usually restaurants of this price point will at least pour the initial glass of water for you), when we finally were able to order our 2 alcoholic beverages, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees for a table of two the problems just seemed to continue to roll in. Martinis were served in snifters, appetizers were dropped off at the table with no utensils or linen on the table and also no seafood fork/ pick, the server took too long to bring utensils so I got up and helped myself to forks that were on the buffet maybe 5 feet from my table, I couldn't understand why the server didn't turn around himself and at least provide a fork for the time being while needing to go collect two rollups, the server finally came back with one single rollup of silverware, mind you this was a table of two, we were only given enough time to eat about half of the appetizers before the entrees were being pushed in front of us and we were struggling to arrange the plates while the waitstaff clearly didn't have the time for us to do so. The most unfortunate thing at Blackwall Hitch was the General Manager, Jimmy, he was condescending and defensive with all of my concerns and told me that it is what it is because he can't order martini glasses because they're backordered along with seafood forks, hey Jimmy! I just checked amazon, they have both items in stock and ready for next day delivery!! The issues from the host stand were excused by her being new, the lack of service in the dining room also wasn't their fault because they're short staffed.. I replied to his dismissive comments with maybe they should consider turning tables away if they're not adequately staffed for it, which he then replied with yes, I know and I've had this talk with the owner and we just simply can't get the help we need. So this is for the owner, when you find a moment to come across this you should know that your GM, Jimmy, blames you for not being able to run...
Read moreBlackwall Hitch Rehoboth Beach has been a fantastic spot for a few years now. Haven’t been recently but tonight was an Uber ride in…which I highly recommend on a Friday night in rehoboth…our car dropped us off right in front and we were welcomed in to such a nautical atmosphere just a few steps down from the boardwalk and ocean Blackwall has that coastal feel inside and even more so on their menu. The offerings are all coastal inspired and hit the mark for light summer eating and loving great dishes that represent seafood and a mix of fish and clams and oysters, what else do you need on a 90 degree night?!? We started off with a ceviche, amazing Fried green tomatoes, the famous Blackwall shrimp in a fantastic white wine sauce with a warm baguette…it was a stop I made a couple of times!! A huge dish of mussels and they were absolutely amazing, highly recommended and one of my favorites, a fresh mozzarella and Jersey tomato caprese salad, oh boy that hit the spot!! So GOOD!! Bethany and Bree are fantastic and they recommended certain main courses. I went for a scallop and shrimp risotto which was light and awesome. Jen did a Shobb seafood salad filled with shrimp, crab and scallops, an other perfect summer dish. The kids went for a fantastic Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and a beautiful soft shell crab sandwich and it looked excellent but gone before I ever tried it!! To end a perfect evening we split a flourless tort and a warm chocolate chip cookie cake topped with freezing vanilla ice cream. What a perfect ending to a perfect night. On a super hot Friday night in a packed foodie seaside town Blackwall hitch hit it out of the park and I can easily say book your table and get there NOW and enjoy a cool great night with great food, fantastic atmosphere and attentive service. Cheers and stay cool my...
Read moreI had a chance to visit Rehoboth Beach, DE. I took time to survey which restaurant I should try. I wanted the one that serve real food, not only street food style. So Blackwall Hitch is the answer. This place is easy to find and very close to boardwalk and beach. There are giant outdoor parking lots nearby. When you get inside, you would get first impression, there is a huge dining room and bar table with nice decoration and cozy atmosphere.
Of course, when you were in a sea town, you really should to try seafood dish. Blackwall Hitch's menu has not many choices but enough variety selections. First, I started to have MARYLAND CRAB & CORN CHOWDER - Sweet claw meat, corn, potato, smoked bacon. It tasted so rich and flavorful.
Then I ordered TRIDENT BROILER - Crab cake, pesto rubbed salmon, shrimp, butter whipped potatoes, asparagus. Overall this dish was good especially crab cake was very delicious, but salmon w/pesto sauce and shrimps were rather bland taste. As for mashed potato and asparagus were OK. Anyway if you compare to the price about $44, I think it was a little pricey.
I also tried JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKE - Lettuce, tomato, cherry pepper remoulade, challah bun. This one was very tasty. I am not sure how much, maybe around $30.
About service, the staffs was fine as a standard.
So overall this trip I enjoy my meal and had a nice experience, Nothing is a big dissatisfy. If you have a chance to go to Rehoboth Beach, DE and want the restaurant that make you feel comfortable, convenient, and enjoy the food....
