The New Knittery — Local services in Renton

This is a small shop with a modest selection of yarns and notions. Yarns are organized by weight, and it's very close to my apartment. Normally, I'd be glad to give them my business. However, because of poor experiences with one of their salespeople I will not be returning. At the very best, this woman simply ignores me. At the worst, she's condescending and rude. Oh, and good luck trying to make small talk with her at the register! Last time I attempted this, she half-listened, informed me bluntly that I was buying the wrong yarn for a pattern she hadn't even seen, and looked at me like I was insane when I told her I was trying to recreate a pair of fingerless gloves I'd seen on my favorite television show. I am new to the area and was very involved with the knitting store I use to live by so this was a diapointment. The first time I went the younger lady working on a Saturday was enthusiastic and helpfully. I asked about groups and guilds and she gave me info and said the owner was the organizer. I came again with my mom and spoke to the owner, she was very chilly and more interested in the group at the table. I tried to join in their conversation a little and i got one word responses. I didn't feel welcome at all. I am not interested in perusing a group so cold. I second the other review that said the selection was dated and there were no hand dyed or local yarns. Absolutely going to be my favorite LYS. My husband and I came here today for the 2022 Yarn Crawl and Marcy was so awesome and excited to help us out. She’s got a lot of everything and three different yarn group meet-up times for people who want to come hangout. Very clean shop, good lighting (white bathroom light flickers so be careful if you’ve got light triggered epilepsy), and it’s accessible for wheelchair or cane.

Marcy also helped me order a pattern for my Ravelry account even though I wasn’t sure what email was attached to it and it worked! Thank you so much, we can’t wait...
