Nothing short of awesome is the treatment we got at Sled Shed. From the owner, Joe, down thru the service manager to the technicians, everybody was patient, polite, helpful and—most importantly—ultimately successful in finding the fix for an issue that had plagued my electric bike for over a year and a half, despite having had it worked on by another bike shop in Idaho Falls—who kept it for a matter of weeks during each of three different service jobs! Considering the amount of time and effort Sled Shed put into this repair, the cost to me was more than reasonable. They were able to give me an appointment within three days of my call, then finish the needed repair in only ONE business day. I really appreciated the time they took up front to explain hydraulic brakes, brands and quality control, in order to properly set my expectations. They spent time on the phone with the original, out-of-state seller of the bike as well as with me to gain a thorough understanding of the issues I’d had. They then took time to test and adjust the existing brake, confer with me by phone about it, and ultimately replace it with one shipped in by the reseller—i.e. not even one I’d bought from Sled Shed. This brake had been squealing since day one, and, as mentioned, nothing done by the bike shop in Idaho Falls had ever resulted in a durable fix. The techs at Sled Shed, however, discovered a too-long mounting part that was the root of my screechy-brake problems. They were able to efficiently reduce its length using their in-house metal cutter, and then reinstall it along with the new brake so my brake pads, rotor and fork would all be properly spaced for friction-free riding. Then all three guys took time to test ride my bike, really putting it thru its paces to make SURE it was back in good working order. That was tremendously reassuring to me to hear, since this wailing brake had been annoying me for over 20 months and had already cost me multiple 50-mile round trips to the other bike shop. My husband and I were both very favorably impressed by the atmosphere of professionalism, good cheer and, most importantly, competence at Sled Shed. After all I’ve been thru trying to get my bike fixed elsewhere, it was a huge relief to find Sled Shed so willing and competent to tackle and solve its problem. I was able to hop on and ride it 8.5 miles home and for the first time actually enjoy a quiet, smooth, whine-free ride the whole way. Well...
Read moreI live in Portland Oregon but I've been trying to replace my coaster brake commuter bike (ridden every day for ten years and recently lost to bike thieves) in a city full of bike snobs who can't be bothered to be helpful because what I want isn't "cool". I refuse to give my money to people who treat me like that, so Ive been trying to order one online and not use a mega retailer. Sled shed has the model i want, but the bike was listed as in store sale only- i figured it was worth sending a text to find out if they could ship. I got a response within ten minutes even though it was after hours, and they were so friendly and kind. They said this wasn't a normal request but they would try to get me a quote foe shipling costs, and they got back to me within one day. It unfortunately turned out not to be a workable solution for me, but after a month of getting shoulder shrugs and "we don't carry those" from everyone in my city, it was really nice to be treated like a human and not made to feel less than for wanting this very specific thing that I want. I even felt hopeful for a bit, and it's not anyone's fault that it's not a feasible sale. Thanks to Sled Shed for incredible customer service even though I didn't become a customer in the end. If i ever come through Rexburg, you can have my...
Read moreI want to like this place and give a good review and they’ve honestly done a great job working on my bikes over the past few years but the last two bikes I’ve dropped off it seems like the story always changes. I understand things don’t go according to plan when fixing/tuning a bike but they assured me they’d have my bike done on Friday or first thing Monday and now its the end of the day and I call to have them tell me they haven’t even gotten it in the stand yet. I have a race in a few weeks and I didn’t want to be without my bike for a long time. I expressed that concern before I took it in and they assured me they’d have it in the stand first thing Friday. I don’t mind if you’re busy just be upfront about it. Disappointing from a place I’ve otherwise really enjoyed going to. Don’t keep my bike for a week or more when I made an appointment in advance. Especially when I was told it would be done by now.
Update: they were apologetic and...
