AWFUL!!! The office staff had horrible communication skills and lacked knowledge. I had such a terrible experience with this office.
It was difficult to even get my first OB appointment with them. When I did, I only got to see the nurse practitioner and not the doctor that I specifically read reviews on and selected. But I was patient and understood that there would be a waiting period to see a highly rated doctor. The nurse practitioner was nice, but didn't seem as knowledgable as I had hoped since she mentioned she had to ask the doctor the few questions I had.
Then I found out that I cannot even see the doctor I wanted to see for 2 months! Her appointments were booked the week that I would have needed to see her and the following week she was on vacation for 12 days. At this point I would've been 4 months pregnant and I'm high risk! It would've been nice for her to even say "Hi, I'm your doctor" while I was in with her nurse practitioner the handful of times I was there before the doctor's vacation. Their policy is that you see the doctor one time, then the nurse practitioner the following visit. They swap out every visit. You don't just see the doctor. They didn't even get me scheduled to get the proper blood work you get when you first find out that you are pregnant. I had half of it done, but no one even told me to get the additional blood work. I mentioned it to them and they seemed shocked that I didn't have it!!! They said "Oh well just go downstairs". Mind you, this was the 2nd time I reminded them that I did not have the blood work done and no one told me when and where I needed to go to get it done.
I attempted to get my records sent to them from a previous doctor (since they did not get all of the files). I filled out the appropriate paperwork and drove to their office to drop it off personally. The woman at the front desk was kind and told me she faxed it just then while I was standing there.
I called the office a week later to find out if they had received the additional paperwork. They said "what paperwork". I told them I dropped off a form. They didn't know what I was talking about. And they tried to tell me they had documents from my previous doctor. When I explained to them again that it wasn't all there, they asked me to fill out a release form!!! Again!
Recently, I was severely ill and I called to speak to the nurse. I don't know if any of you have been sick while pregnant, but it isn't pleasant. She said she'd speak to my doctor (the one I hadn't even met) to see if she thought it was time for a prescription. She told me she wold call me back with info from the doctor the next morning. Didn't get a call back. I waited patiently (coughing up my lungs and not breathing) until mid afternoon just to give them more time in case something came up and no one called. So I followed up just to be told that the nurse I spoke to was out of the office and the doctor wasn't available since she was on night call. I was asked to leave another message!
This is the sort of communication you will receive if you come to this office. There are many more stories like this.
When I did finally get to see the doctor, a nurse came in first to do the fetal heart rate. She put the device on my belly, but on my belly button. I was only about 14 weeks at the time and no bump. She kept trying and trying to locate the heartbeat and kept making excuses for why she couldn't find it. Then I kindly said, "normally I feel baby a bit lower." As soon as she moved the device over my uterus - amazing! She found it. I told the nurse where to find my baby's heart beat! Really?
It is so sad because when I did finally see the doctor, she seemed extremely knowledgable. Can't say the same for the rest of the staff and nurses. Don't go here if you are pregnant! You do not need the extra stress of feeling like your doctor (or their office) doesn't put you first. Because you and your baby should be...
Read moreWell this may be kinda long as my experience should be shared in detail so others may see what an amazing Doctor that Dr. Merritt is.
I found Dr. Merritt in the Fort Stewart wife group when I seen a post of someone asking for OBGYN recommendations. I had shortly found out I was pregnant and remembered how highly a bunch of wives had spoke about her. So I did some research on her and found that she may be a really good fit for me.
Initially when meeting Dr Merritt she was very friendly, professional, and made me feel very comfortable (which I have never found in any Dr I have ever had). We had talked about some things about my pregnancy and from the very beginning of it she had taken every single concern I raised and answered it with up to date medical information and made sure I had extra labs done if need be. When my daughter had a bit of a growth restriction she monitored it well and kept me in the loop with everything going on. Luckily for my daughter she ended up being born healthy.
Some things I love about Dr Merritt is that she is very up to date with medical information and is constantly learning the new things in her profession and is not stuck with out dated medical information from 30+ years ago like most Doctors I have been seen by. She is also very kind and seems very passionate about her career. She takes not only your physical health serious but also your mental health as well. Sheâs all around a wonderful doctor.
She is very âmy body, my choiceâ which is something i absolutely love the most about her. She does not push you into doing something else if you expressed youd like something else. She will educate you on your choice though which is something else I love. I am 24 with 2 kids (girls to be specific) and when I told her after my pregnancy Iâd like my tubes tied she never forced me down another route of birth control and instead she educated me on a tubal and said if thatâs what I wanted we could go ahead and do it. Which if Iâm honest I was shocked. As I heard so many doctors try to get you on other forms of birth control just so that way âyou can have more babies laterâ. But instead she respected my choice and did end up giving me what I wanted!
Although, I should add while I am doing a review on Dr Merritt under this RH location she has actually moved to the Savannah location (which is now an hour away from where I live but she is so amazing I have decided to go to her new office location just so I can be seen by her. I refuse to switch to anyone else!! Sheâs just...
Read moreUpdate: After leaving my review yesterday, the practice manager contacted me to explain how the error occurred. She resolved the issue and successfully scheduled my appointment for today. She was very kind and chose not to pressure me into deleting my reviewâsomething Iâve noticed other establishments do. Instead, she saw it as an opportunity for improvement. Thank you!!
I hate leaving negative reviews but hopefully this will encourage change. I made an appointment as a new patient back in August (just moved here due to being military) and the earliest appointment available was for today, Dec. 12th 2024 @2pm. I call about an hour and a half before the appt just to confirm the location and time (I received a confirmation text and an automated phone call reminding me of the appointment earlier this week). The first lady I spoke with was very unpleasant and short with me. She informed me that that appt was showing up as rescheduled and the next appointment wouldnât be until June 2025. When I asked why it was rescheduled, she said âI donât know thatâs just what itâs showing up asâ (Again, very short and irritated sounding with me). The call ended, I took a second to regroup, and called back because I had another question. The second lady I spoke to was much more pleasant and helped me better understand what my options were. I said all this to say that I understand how scheduling and things can be, I was a scheduling coordinator myself for a ortho office. But the LEAST and the most courteous thing to do is let the patient know that their appointment has been ârescheduledâ (I quote it like that because again, I was never made aware of this, when this change was made, or given another date to choose from so it sounds more like a cancellation ). I have waited almost 5 months for this appt and was really relieved to find a highly favored OB-GYN, but today I feel neglected, unvalued, and disregarded. Please do better and again, give some kind of notification that our appts our canceled/rescheduled. Thank...
