*edit to add I paid another $250 to have my hair fixed. BUT the damage due to the poor bleach application and whatever was done, was extensive. The breakage and mess I am left with is not at all what I wanted and it should never have happened because I went in with very healthy hair. The girl who fixed my hair somewhere else was not able in good conscience, to really do very much besides try to color correct as best she could because she knew she’d hurt it worse. I don’t know what happens when I was in there but my hair will take months to recover.
I really do like this place. They’re polite, it’s comfortable and they keep up with covid policies. My liking the people or the building does not make what happened to my hair ok. I went and had a pretty good experience several months ago, but I am now wondering if what I came in with was actually ok to begin with. I HAD my hair lightened and all I needed was a few touch ups and a toner. I asked this time for a balayage. I am very clear about everything I do to my hair and was at this appt as well. I see the same people so I can have consistency. There are and we’re no surprises. I scheduled a long appointment in the event she needed more time. I come with photos and I’m willing to come back if someone feels they can’t do it or need more time. I was assured she understood what I wanted. I now have VERY chunky, VERY brassy, uneven highlights NOT balayage, that are badly toned and look awful. I can see the straight line where the foil was, there is serious color bleeding, no blending, and entire sections of my hair that appear to not have been toned. They’re yellow or Orange where a few are white. I asked for and paid ($220 not including a generous tip) for a balayage and I have a mess that I now need fixed to the tune of god knows what. (I did NOT use Groupon. I’ve read the reviews that cite that. I was not a Groupon customer). I called to ask what the policy is to fix it and it simply doesn’t make me comfortable to see the same person again after having this issue. One, I don’t want to make HER uncomfortable and two, I frankly don’t think she’s going to be able to fix it. That’s obviously my personal issue but no other alternative is offered. I am not willing to be uncomfortable or make the hairdresser uncomfortable and frankly I don’t really want to see this get WORSE. I’ve read in reviews that this is a consistent problem but now I have had to seek a consult elsewhere and I am told I need several hours of color correction and that my previously healthy hair is now very damaged and dry and required 2 inches to be cut off to remove damage! (I went in with healthy recently trimmed hair) I imagine that the color correction will be expensive and honestly it’s just upsetting. I’d never say DONT go somewhere. I frankly think she just needs more time to learn, but I’d rather have been told that she was learning and also charged accordingly. Just make sure when booking you’re someone who doesn’t feel discomfort about the confrontation if you’re not happy, it’s in your budget to just go get it fixed elsewhere, you have time to fix it elsewhere, or you don’t mind if you’re...
Read moreI really was torn on whether or not I was going to write this review because I know how much a negative review can impact a business however, the haircut I received is quite literally the worst haircut I have ever received in my life. This review is solely on the haircut that I received and not the salon itself.
The salon itself is beautiful and very clean. As a new client, I received a tour and was offered a beverage, and then was given a robe and asked to sit and wait for my stylist. I booked with Lewis, the owner. The person who used to cut my hair is no longer behind the chair so I had to find a new stylist unfortunately. He came over and greeted me and asked what I wanted done that day and I told him that I absolutely loved the haircut I had and I wanted to mirror that haircut and just trim the dead ends. At that point, I thought he would have touched my hair to evaluate the type of haircut that I had and make sure we were on the same page with what was going to be done that day. However, I'm sure every stylist has a different technique so I did not question it. However, I did not feel that there was much of a consultation and evaluation. I then went over to the shampoo station where I received, a hair treatment and a great wash. No complaints with the hair treatment or wash. They use excellent products.
After that, I was brought over to his chair and I had previously told him I wanted a blunt cut in the back with a face frame in the front... again, strictly trimming my hair and mimicking the haircut that I had. He did my cut in the back and then went to start blow drying my hair and I had asked him if he was going to trim my face frame and he said that he likes to do that type of cut on dry hair.. again I trust that every stylist has a technique and did not question it what's so ever because I would not expect someone to come to my job and question the way I do things... however I wish I did.
The next thing I knew he standing in front of me, so I could not see myself in the mirror and how much hair he was taking, but he chopped off so much from the front of my face that I left with bangs... And not to mention, they're completely uneven! They are not blended, and doesn't look like a face frame at all! I part my hair directly down the middle, and it's visible that one side has more hair cut off than the other... he went too far back on the "face frame" aka the bangs he decided to cut that I didn't have to begin with. I thought about going back to have him try and fix it, but I wouldn't let that man near my hair with a 10 foot pole. $215 later and it's the worst cut of my life... wouldn't recommend to anyone I love and know.. not...
Read moreLet me start by saying that my stylist today, Maria, was very good! The salon itself is very pretty and clean and in a great location. However, what I have an issue with is the dishonest practices of the owner. I love to use Groupon when I’m trying a new place, this often means that the business is trying to highlight a new staff or they just need to get new clients in general as their business is slow, so I keep lower expectations. I called to make my appointment about a week ago and when I did I mentioned that I was considering buying the current Groupon and just wanted to see how soon I could get in before I bought it. They told me not to buy it and rather to just come in and they would match the Groupon price (super against Groupons rules as that removes them from their profits) But, I agreed, as part of me was hoping that by paying them directly, my stylist would make a larger cut. Very unlikely! Anyway, the part that just ruined the whole experience for me was when I went to check out, the receptionist (who, before I started my haircut I showed a screenshot taken the day I made the appointment of the current Groupon offering in case that special ended) told me that she had spoken to the owner and the price was now more than what I was promised because, as she stumbled over her words… “This is what she told me to charge, as that’s kinda our Groupon rate” This girl was embarrassed to say the least as she clearly knew she was lying and just followed the direction of her boss. Moral of the story, bad business practices! A huge part of this massive reduction the company offers is to hopefully gain a new client paying full price, and after what I experienced today, out of principle I...
