Ivory on Campbell — Local services in Roanoke

I am the MOG. My son deployed last year and is expected back the end of this year. My FDIL has faced so many trials on her own in this process with utmost grace, kindness and inclusion from the beginning of planning. Dress shopping day was something we were all so excited about.

Day 1 first boutique was very nice and we all thought maybe she found the one but what if it wasn't... so off we went to a big chain bridal store that left everyone a bit overwhelmed. At the end of the day the plan was to go back and try on the best one at the first shop hoping it truly was THE dress. Appointment was set for a couple of weeks out.

The main issue was that the bride's bestest friend is in school and internship starts next week. He came into town this weekend for these appointments and will not be able to be back for quite sometime. When a friend told me about Ivory On Campbell I called just hoping they may be able to get us in before the man of honor has to leave.

As I shared the whole story with Beth, the bridal stylist who answered the phone. Bless her she got an ear full of our story. Beth was so gracious and kind and was able to get us in later that afternoon.

From the moment we entered the boutique it was a breath of fresh air. Gabi our stylist greeted us with a very warm welcome. Knowing the whole story and the nervous energy we carried along with us, she was so caring and gentle in her approach. She broke down the process, answered all of our questions and guided us on a very smooth journey. She knew we had one we were trying to beat and never once pressured or pushed us.

There is nothing like hearing my FDIL and Gabi discussing the dress before the curtains opened, "oh how beautiful", "it's so romantic" and then to see her glowing as she stepped up on the pedestal and she started to cry and I was crying and we were all gasping at the gorgeous bride in the beautiful dress with a spectacular energy that over took us all.

Every step was easy, comfortable and so much fun! Their selection is massive but not overwhelming. The stylists are knowledgeable and well versed in dress options, narrowing options to best suit the bride and to listen to understand what the bride wants and then to meet those needs. Gabi was excellent at helping the bride and team bride to navigate the process and journey to find the perfect dress!

Gabi was able to keep the focus on our beautiful bride providing a relaxed, encouraging and safe environment allowing her to choose the perfect dress for her special day. She discussed veil options. Gabi never tried to push the sale or go over budget. The dresses are stunning, of exceptional quality and priced overly fair. By the time we left everyone was smiling and happy and grateful for the experience. Most important, our bride found "The One".

Ivory on Campbell was an absolute DREAM!

This was my second stop on my wedding dress journey, and it completely fit my idea of what was supposed to happen when looking for a wedding dress.

The boutique is large and airy, with countless dresses. The fitting stations are beautiful and strategically arranged, so each one feels very private, even though it's a pretty open floor plan.

I was fortunate enough to have Beth as my stylist. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and, best of all, down to have fun.

*If you are here for the review and not storytime, you can skip this paragraph * She pulled a black dress for me to try (yes! :) they have black dresses!) and right away asked if I would be ok with it and be able to see past it since she was pulling it for the style, not the color. I told her yes, buuuutttt, she had to "jack-me up" (to steal the phrase from "Say Yes To The Dress") with a black veil and everything, and we had to take a picture to send to my Dad! HAHAHA! She was totally down to clown, and we did it! My poor Dad! His immediate response to me sending him the picture was, "Black???" I told him I was kidding and his heart rate returned to normal, but it was lovely having Beth be so up for the fun!

As a plus-size bride, I found the selection incredible! Since I had already tried on dresses before, I had a better idea of what I was looking for, so while I didn't try on as many as my first time, each one was a solid contender for my heart! I was very impressed.

The best part was at the end of my appointment. I found one dress that I would have never guessed I would love, but I did. I also had one that was my favorite from the previous place I tried dresses. (full disclosure it was their sister store Unaltered Bridal) Beth put me in the dress, cinched me to the gods, jacked me up, and had me walk around the boutique. It was a magical experience. She then asked me which I liked better, and in all honesty, I couldn't say. She then asked me to hold on for a minute while she checked the appointment schedule over at UB and came back with a suggestion. She suggested that as soon as I changed out of the dress, I go back to UB and try on my favorite. She let me know that she had called them to let them know to expect me, but that the best way to figure out which I preferred would be to try on my other favorite while the first was fresh in my mind.

She was so right! I am so grateful to her for that stroke of genius!

I purchased my first favorite from Unaltered Bridal, but it truly speaks to how excellent Beth and this company are; they give you all the tools and opportunities to find your perfect dress, even if it isn't directly with them!

I had the most amazing dress experience at Ivory on Campbell. To start, I had booked an appointment for a few of my family members and friends. My mom called separately and asked if one could be added to the party because one of my bridesmaids was flying in from out of town to surprise me. They accomodated with absolutely no problem. Next, my entire group was greeted with open arms when we walked in. I had the best time trying on dresses there. My stylist made it a very personal experience for everyone in my group. You could tell that this was not just a job for her, but it was something she loved doing. My entire group felt like they had been so taken care of the entire time we were there. Even after we left, I still got messages from the shop keeping me updated on my dress and my order that gave me such a peace of mind. Yesterday, I went to go pick up my dress and had Gabi as my stylist. I expressed my feelings that I was nervous about trying the dress on again because it had been so long and wasn't sure if I was going to like it as much. She calmed a lot of my anxiety and told me that it was completely normal, and we proceeded with the appointment. I, of course, loved the dress, and Gabi was very encouraging and uplifting the whole time. She was engaging with me and my friend, and I could not have asked for a better dress experience overall. I have heard horror stories of brides who do not have as great of an experience getting their dress, and I want to encourage any woman who is nervous, pick Ivory on Campbell.
