Roanoke is a clean place, its quiet, its growing, truly a place to retire, however, there is a little racial tension in this area in some of the corporate places & it doesn't really have that urban vibe to it. I personally get along great with the ppl in roanoke but it seems like a black owned business is not wanted downtown. There is I think only 1 black business in the market area but other than that there are no back businesses in downtown Roanoke & I believe that ppl want to keep...
Read moreWe enjoyed the interesting railroad history displays on the pedestrian bridge and the Market area of downtown Roanoke, both of which were an easy walk from our accommodations at Hotel Roanoke. On another occasion, we found a parking garage in the Market area, so, again, the area offers easy access, interesting history, and walkability. There seemed to be restaurants for most any taste....
