They're old machines so don't forget that. That being said, you'll likely have a good time here. Some machines stop working periodically, but work again a few minutes later. For some of the machines that are multiplayer you can only play single player. This may be because every machine is set to free play. It takes a while to get into the old mindset you had as a kid where every quarter counted and you actually read the rules of the particular game. I suggest giving it an hour before giving up on the place Read the rules on each machine, and try to accomplish each step or stage and the games become fun again. Don't ignore the older machines. They can be great fun because the rules are very simple and you'll have only two or three goals. Don't just head for the flashy ones and start slapping the flippers wildly. Pay attention and remember the old goals... points, extra balls, multi balls. They have some interesting old machines I encourage you to try as well. Even an old wooden one that has nails to randomize the balls. Its fun to play...
Read moreVisiting Roanoke, first time here, with my daughter. We met up with her college friend. We were walking downtown and saw a sign about the Pinball Museum. We definitely had to check it out!
We walked inside the building and went to the front desk. Gloria, who was very nice, friendly and helpful, explained about the cost of the Pinball Museum as well as the Starcade Video Arcade, the Living Reef Aquarium and The Candy Store.
We chose to do the Pinball Museum. It's worth the $15 per person! The Living Reef Aquarium was free . We really loved looking the Aquarium.
We went up to the Pinball Museum. OMG, WOW pinball machines galore!!! Seeing all of the pinball machines brought me back to my childhood! I now want several pinball machines in my house! My favorites were Gilligan's Island, Addams Family, The Beatles, Elton John, Indiana Jones and the list could go forever!
We had an awesome time there. I wish we could've been there all day! We will definitely come back!!!
If you're visiting Roanoke, definitely...
Read moreIt's a cool place to spend a few hours. (5 1/2 hours was our tap out point and we are pretty hardcore) The female staff member wasn't friendly, but later a guy took over and he was really friendly and nice. All the games are set to free play. $15 a head to play for the day. They print out a ticket so you can leave and come back. Parking nearby costs money, but a mile away you can street park for free if you are okay with walking. The place has lots of machines about 10% were down. There is a single table game loaded with Pacman, 1942 and more. Pinball Palace in Georgia is better, but this place is still cool. Holding both flippers on newer games allows you to access alternate modes of play and they don't have them all open. My main complaint would be the amount of homeless people living down in the market square is a little worrisome when you break to get food. I would recommend this place still, but pay attention to your surroundings outside the mall. We weren't harassed or anything, but definitely some shady people...
