The one plus is the fact that they had the football game on that I wanted to see. Oh, it's a really nice looking place. You could call it "high class", but I think that's the problem. DO NOT go in there thinking you're gonna be able to catch the game and have a bite to eat and a beer.... at least, not without shelling out a good bit of cash. It's expensive. I know, "It's downtown". "You can expect that". No, you don't understand what I'm saying. It's expensive for downtown. You want a nice Cobb salad, (which is usually made with chicken) IF you want chicken on it, (you can also choose shrimp, and there was one other option) $18.00! Almost $20 bucks for a salad! $13.00 if you want to get it plain. Not willing to pay almost $20 for a salad, I chose instead a $13.00 chicken sandwich. Which they call a Calypso chicken sandwich. I'm thinking, okay, I'm treating myself, and I really wanted to see this game. First pre-season game of the year for my team and their biggest rival. And this is probably going to be this huge breast of chicken loaded with all the stuff in the description, and it came with fries. They didn't have my favorite beer, but did have my second. So I got a beer and waited on this "fancy, high dollar, chicken sandwich. And watched my highly anticipated game. And then they brought it to my table.... This little piece of charred grilled chicken didn't even out size the small, regular hamburger bun it was on. Oh well, I was trying to be positive. Maybe it tasted like an expensive, high end, delicacy. (I've eaten at a 5 star restaurant where the portions seemed small but was soooooo delicious, it was so worth it) Not the case. Not the case, AT ALL. Blackened (if that was their intention) doesn't, or shouldn't, mean dry. I could as easily eaten shoe leather. The little spot of "special sauce" wasn't enough to help. Neither was the little piece of cheese which glued the 2 pieces of bacon to the chicken meat. Toward the end, it got really hard to chew and choke it down. And, I kinda felt a little sick. I noticed it was hot as hell and sweat was starting to run down from my temples. But, I was having a good time damn it! Thank goodness they do at least serve ice water with your meal. I washed down my meal with that, and proceeded to finish my beer and game while awaiting my check. When it came, I saw (because apparently I didn't look before) that my beer was $4.00. Hell's bells,.... Still trying to maintain a good outlook on things, I paid my bill and left. Originally planning to get an after dinner cocktail, I just didn't know. I felt, really queasy. Then the urge to go to the bathroom hit. I have a studio downtown where I work, so, I walked to my studio thinking that maybe if I relieve myself, then maybe I'll feel like going and having that drink. I went, and it wasn't pleasant. I got done, and walked out of the bathroom. Got halfway down the hall.... AND HAD TO GO BACK. FAST! I don't want to be graphic here. But, have you ever seen the movie "Dumb and Dumber"? Where Loyd slips Harry a bunch of laxative. And Harry has to "go" at the girl's house? There you have it. I thought my whole insides were coming out. Unreal. So, if you want a 2 star meal, at a 5 star price. Followed by a 5 star case of the s#!+s this is the place for you. It's the nicest place I'll never...
Read moreListen, Before I begin : The first time I came here I had an excellent server, who actually talked with me, and he was really great, he made me and my group laugh, and its why we keep coming back. Every time we come back we ask to sit with him again, and we are told he's not in. I hope he wasn't fired because he's the only reason I keep coming back.
I usually am not this kind of person, I always tip 25-30% on a tab, I serve tables myself, I know what it's like to have Karens and ridiculous customers. I am not normally this upset.
Last night we had a HORRIBLE experience with the service, and we were there for about 3-4 hours. I didn't catch the name of the servers that took care of us. We were a party of 5, our friends came in before us initially. And there's a party to our side who is shouting, and yelling, Its hurting our ears, so my friend asks if we can move somewhere else, as they are being super loud, and we try to approach this very politely. This lady looks to be about in her 30s, she's got black hair and she kinda snorted and said "Well there's no room anywhere else!" we said that was fine, and we apologized for asking, she ran off, and brought us another server and with a kind of tone said that he was going to be taking care of us for the rest of the night.
This server was nice, asked us if we wanted anything to drink so we ordered some alcohol and he came back with those quickly. After this, we probably waited 40-45 minutes for him to come back.
We finally put in a food order, and we waited probably 45-50 minutes, and it didn't look all that busy in the restaurant. Really that was fine because me and my friends were still having a good time. When to food finally comes out, the food is super delicious but my friend was missing tomato soup, which was fine, and a quick fix.
About an hour passes, We haven't been checked on in forever, no check in on if the food was good (luckily it was good food!), or refills. The server finally comes back around and gets us a couple refills on drinks, after which he ends up disappearing for probably another hour??
Which is fine, it was starting to get busier and we suspect that he was the bartender.
We ended up noticing the server who had handed over the table to someone else, has been watching us at the host stand glaring at us, she ended up standing there watching us for a whole 10 minutes. Which is super uncomfortable, and rude.
We had an enjoyable experience on our own, but we would have appreciated more attention, and less rudeness from that lady staff.
We hope the next time we come back, there is...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible! My sister and I have come in on different occasions.. we have always had bad service but pushed it off as a bad day for the staff (we never had the same person twice). We went one night with a few friends and the long brown haired manager knew a few people we were with and was talking about how much she didn’t like working there, which isn’t a good look! The time before this evening we were seated inside and waited for 30 minutes with servers, hosts, and even the manager (long brown hair) walking by multiple times without any acknowledgement to us, and this is a small dining area. I walked to the host and asked if we had a server and was told she would send someone over, never happened. I went to the bar and ordered a beer and sat back down, An additional 20 minutes later there was still no acknowledgement. Flash forward to this time, we sat at the bar. A young man asked us what we wanted to drink and if we needed menus, he brings our drinks and gets our order.. doesn’t even come back until he brings our appetizer and meal at the same time. After 20+ minutes of not seeing him, not being asked how our meal was, being finished and having the tall, slender bartender walk back and forth just looking at us like we’re aliens.. I asked, “do you know where the guy is who was taking care of us?” And she pointed to a guy drinking a beer at the end of the bar and said “Daniel? oh he’s off” !!!! 🤯🤯🤯 I was shocked and asked who is suppose to be taking care of us and she said “we all work together”… here’s the comical part, we were never taken care of. Nobody ever introduced their self, food was lukewarm, we were never asked how things were, when I say we were NEVER checked on.. we were NEVER! I had to ask for the check and when she gave us the check there was never a thank you, have a nice day, nothing! So after multiple bad experiences, I’m leaving a review because this was not and never was, just a...
