Update on my review: 7/21/2025

I ordered take out from here on Saturday. I ordered 6 tacos of asada with only cilantro, 4 tacos of asada with cheese, lettuce and tomato and 2 plain tacos. When I got home, all the tacos, with the exception of the plain tacos had onion in them and I was missing 2 tacos for a total of 10 tacos. I called and spoke with Ana who said she spoke with the owner and said they would remake my entire order and she would save my ticket and I could go back whenever to get my replacement. Awesome, right?

I called in the order for pick up shortly before 5 pm, and everything seemed fine. I go inside to pick up my order, say my name, and the 2 girls in the front look all bamboozled and tell the owner in Spanish that I was the girl with the order. First, going from speaking English to Spanish is unprofessional, but I know Spanish. The owner goes to the back and brings the bag and then he says they only missed up 4 tacos in my original order.I explained to him everything I ordered and how it was wrong and that I spoke with Ana and she said the order would be remade. He was going back and forth with me saying that he remade my tacos. I don’t know who he remade them for because it wasn’t me. Probably someone else who had their order incorrect. After feeling humiliated explaining myself repeatedly and how they messed up the order he said they would pay more attention on how they make the food and gave me my bag. That’s what his response should have been from the very beginning! I’ve never been so embarrassed. He made me feel like I was trying to get over on them. If you aren’t going to fix someone’s order without giving them the third degree then why offer?! I shouldn’t have to defend myself for an order I paid for that your staff messed up that you offered to replace. I will never return. That’s not how you...

We recently ordered takeout from this family-owned Mexican restaurant, and everything was excellent! We got chicken and carne asada tacos along with the chile relleno plate (served with rice and beans) and birria tacos. The tacos were a standout, packed with meat, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. We asked for avocado on them, and they were very generous with it, which was a nice surprise. The salsas were incredible, definitely homemade, super flavorful, and they didn’t skimp on the portions. Birria tacos were spot on.

The chile relleno was also delicious, with a rich flavor and plenty of gooey cheese inside. Rice and beans complemented it perfectly. Prices are very fair for the quality and portion sizes.

The restaurant itself was clean, and the staff was friendly when we picked up our order. My husband noticed they have a bar inside, which is a nice bonus for dining in. He did mention it would be great to have a few more TVs for soccer games, but that’s more of a future wish than a complaint.

Overall, this is the kind of spot that makes you glad to support a local business. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be coming back to dine in soon. Highly recommend this taco shop to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican...

VERY DISAPPOINTED - I was really looking forward to trying this new restaurant but what a big let down. We ordered 6 tacos, 2 each of 3 varieties. Hubby went inside to pick them up because the drive through was blocked off and not open. He brought the order home and 2 of the tacos were missing. Hubby packed everything back up and had to drive back to the restaurant. He informed them that 2 tacos were missing and by now the other tacos were cold so he requested that the staff remake them. (They didn’t) He mentioned that the manager was scrambling around the place like he didn’t know what to do first. After they handed back the order with all of our tacos now (the others were cold but we took them anyway 😕) my hubby suggested that everyone in the place slow down, take a breath, and focus on the tasks and getting orders correct. After we got the correct order home we realized they didn’t put any of the sauces back in the bag, so no sauce. The food was cold and we were disappointed with the quality. Also, the tacos were only half full of the fillings. (See pic) Sorry to say, this experience was not as expected, not acceptable, very inconvenient, and we...

We we're really looking forward to trying this new restaurant. We love Mexican food and travel throughout Rockford to get authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite on par as we would have hoped. I understand they're new and they're working things out, but simple carne asada should be done well and it was at best mediocre. The prices are slightly inflated with the tacos. There is a large selection of meats, however, including some cured meats that I had never had at a restaurant. The queso dip seemed like it come from a jar, as well as the salsa. The shrimp taco and chorizo taco were okay.i think they are still figuring things out. So, I'll give it another try later. It has potential.
