Wheelchair accessible with three floors: an entrance bar on the first, indoor dining and restrooms on the second, and a rooftop bar on the third. Very cool setup.
I visited Disco Chicken this past Sunday to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. We were excited to try the place because of all the great reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing.
We arrived at 8:50pm and sat on the rooftop. We placed our order at 9:12pm using the QR code on the napkin holder (which promises a 10% discount). Our order totaled $143.73 and included: • 2 Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches • 2 Four-Piece Tenders • 2 Elotes • 2 Disco Tots • 1 Strawberry Cloud • 2 Takes Two To Mango • 1 Lavender Shake Up
After 15 minutes of waiting with no drinks or food, we asked a staff member if we could get our drinks at the bar, but decided to continue waiting. About 10 minutes later, still nothing. We moved to the table behind us and enjoyed the view and were approached by a different staff member who noticed we hadn’t received anything yet. He took my name and said he’d check in with the kitchen.
By 9:50pm, still no food or drinks. When I came back from the restroom, I was met with staff apologizing to me. Apparently, she gave our food to the wrong table (a group of kids next to us). We only received part of our order: 2 adult tenders, 2 elotes, 1 disco tots, and the 4 drinks. The 2 Hot Honey sandwiches and 1 Disco Tots went to the wrong table.
Mistakes happen, but what’s frustrating is that I placed the order using the QR code with the table number and my name. Another staff member had already asked for my name earlier when he said he would check on the order. So why the food was handed off without confirming the name is beyond me.
At that point, we were hungry and just wanted to move on with our night, so I asked for a refund on the missing items. The staff said they’d get the manager. Steve, the manager, genuinely tried to help and said I’d be contacted on Tuesday (due to Memorial Day) to process the refund. As of now, I’ve received no call, voicemail, or email. I’m still waiting.
The food we did get: • Tenders – delicious • Elotes – solid • Disco Tots – horrible. Burnt, dry, hard, and basically disintegrated when you bit into them.
We also informed the staff to double-check the table that received our order to ensure they didn’t walk off with free food. It’s frustrating that this happened, especially after a 2-hour drive to treat my cousin on her birthday.
If I ever give this place a second chance and have a better experience, I’ll be happy to leave an updated review. But for now, I can’t recommend it based on what we...
Read moreFirst off, hate giving this one a bad review because the food was decent. I’m going to start off with the main annoyance. THE MUSIC. Right from the get-go we had no idea what the server said to us when we walked in the door. Somethingsomethingupstairs. We could barely make out anything he was greeting us with. Anyways, picked a table, got some 7$ drinks. Filled to the top with ice & only had 4-5 sips and it was empty. When it came to order, i guess the server couldn’t hear my friend correctly as again, the music was too loud and I heard the server say something-honey-something something. I shrugged it off as something that came on the Hog Party. Later, we went to get a different servers attention to ask to move upstairs when we got our drinks as he was was walking away, you guessed it, he didnt hear us. We got our food after about 15mins. We ordered what i thought was the Hog Party, and we both got the Hot Honey. Honestly, at this point I was pretty annoyed & just wanted to leave. I couldnt hear anything my friend was saying. Didnt finish eating and left then drove with the radio off just to enjoy the silence. Hate to see this place fail because of the ambience but I won’t be back. It sucks we didnt get to try something we wanted off the menu. I get the name, but we have to be able to communicate. As a server myself, I genuinely could not fathom working here.
UPDATE: Looks like the “owner” replied to this but it seems to be written by a spiteful child. Apparently the music is too loud for you to think critically on how to treat customers. Sorry I gave you guys a 1star review but you rightfully deserved it. Instead of listening to the feedback which was very detailed on what the issue was, you went through my post history and blasted it like it means anything to anyone. Customers don’t give 5 star reviews much unless it’s over the top great service and food, we leave a bad review and vote with our feet if we have a bad experience. I could go on about the bad reviews your restaurant has like plastic in the food and incompetent wait staff, but I’m better than that, but trust me to anyone thats reading this; the list goes on. Learn to take feedback better as a restaurant owner or your business won’t go anywhere. Btw, your food is too expensive...
Read moreDisco Chicken in Rockford, IL, truly outdid itself during the city’s first-ever 1/2 Ironman event—especially on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. From the moment my group arrived, we were met with warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine sense of community.
Service and Hospitality
A huge thank you to servers Kayle, Tasha, and Ramiro, who made our experience memorable. Their attentiveness and positive attitudes were evident throughout our visit, and their willingness to accommodate our group for as long as we wanted—despite the unexpected heat wave—was greatly appreciated. Disco Chicken’s decision to open early on race day and provide hydration stations for fans and athletes alike was a thoughtful touch that did not go unnoticed. Their support for the event and for the athletes demonstrated a real commitment to the community.
Ambiance and Convenience
The restaurant’s ambiance was lively and welcoming, with just the right vibe for celebrating and relaxing after a long day. Its proximity to the course—just a few feet away—meant we could easily see and cheer on the athletes multiple times during the run, which added to the excitement and made the experience feel even more special.
Food and Ordering Experience
The food was outstanding, with flavorful options that hit the spot after a day in the sun. The ordering process using QR codes took a moment to figure out at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was intuitive and efficient, allowing us to focus more on enjoying our time together.
Overall Recommendation
We highly recommend Disco Chicken to anyone visiting Rockford, whether for a special event or just a great meal. The combination of delicious food, amazing service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout choice. We will definitely be back and look forward to supporting this restaurant in the future.
