Nice small dowtown eatery. Was blown away by the food. Peruvian recipes and drinks that are top notch. Restaurant is a family business run by husband the mixologist and wife the chef. The atmosphere was modern and the food was delicious! My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the portions are quite small. The presentations were beautiful, but this is not hungryman fare. I get it. It's upscale and it's international. I had the Lomo Saltado, and it was 5 stars! My wife had the Fiji Salmon. Same 5 stars. I was told the menu changes every two weeks, so check it out regularly. Bottom line: looking for something deliciously different, you should try this. I'll be checking the menu options every couple of weeks. Next time, I'll add an appetizer.

Tried Lima Mar before heading to a comedy show. Unfortunately, we were in a bit of a rush, so we didn't get to try any appetizers. My boyfriend ordered the beef anticuchero, and I ordered the limamar pasta. Both were delectable. The beef was melt in your mouth tender. My shrimp and scallop were perfect, and the sauce in the pasta wasn't overbearing. Nice portions as well, didn't feel glutinous after finishing but left satisfyingly full. I also had a cocktail. I can't remember the name, but it was Peruvian grape bourbon drink with blueberries and something else... that was dangerously good. Because it was a beautiful day out, we ate outside. The inside of the restaurant was decorated beautifully.

I visited LimaMar last night and I was absolutely blown away by their traditional Peruvian cuisine. Everything about the food from the flavors, textures, and presentation to the colorful and trendy interior decoration of the restaurant is a treat to the senses and the overall experience is unlike anything else I've had in Rockford. There is definitely a quality to the food and it comes at a price - expect to pay $30-50/person - but the value delivered is well worth it in my opinion, whether you're celebrating something, looking to impress a companion, or just want an excellent meal. LimaMar is a delicious addition to the cuisine offered in Rockford and I look forward to dining there again.

We came across LimaMar during the pandemic as we recently moved out to the Rockford area and wanted to support local restaurants suffering from all the restrictions. We love trying new cultures and saw there was a Peruvian restaurant -out of all things-and wanted to order all their authentic dishes and cocktails. It was tasty, unique and the cocktails were great! I of course ordered their ceviche too. So, when we recently had family visit, they wanted to go there for a birthday dinner. We could only do it on a Tuesday and typically it isn’t opened but the owner offered to open it up for private event and it was a great experience. The location is downtown Rockford and the decor is modern and fun. The owner was also the mixologist and was very knowledgeable on many drinks. We had a ton of fun ordering some of the most unique and quite honestly best tasting cocktails I’ve ever had. He hosted, helped and served us our entire meal and that was very gracious of him. The chef was his wife and she prepared a variety of the wonderful Peruvian dishes we were so excited to eat and the meat was really tender and the flavors unique and delicious. We tried all sorts of dishes and then ordered desert which like before was beautifully prepared, the presentation was lovely and flavor amazing! We stuffed our faces that evening. We had such a great time, highly recommend this place and can see this restaurant succeeding in the big cities - however, we hope they keep this location too! Thank you for a...

Very pleasing on the eyes for both the ambiance and the plate. Made a reservation for 7pm and didn’t get seated until about 7:45. All the dishes took quite some time to be served. To be fair the one waitress that was doing service was pretty amazing but well over exhausted with running service solo to the whole restaurant. LimaMar is a small and adorable restaurant. Their food was all superb except the desert. Definitely feel like they got slammed on Valentine’s Day and couldn’t recover for the next days service. Presentation and garnishes were a feast for the eyes in both the drinks and plates served. Thinking of going back when they are a little less busy to see what this place really has to offer. Also they should probably omit the two odd tables clogging the center of the restaurant where it obstructs the flow of traffic and no one really wants to be seated. This place seems to have a lot to offer but I would recommend hitting them on an off hour to get the...

Went in on a Saturday night, it was really busy so we went to the bar. I love Peruvian food so I was excited. They were severely understaffed. It took forever for us to get our order in, get our drinks, get our food, and never got water refills (my glass was pushed forward to the edge, and I finally got it after I asked when we got our bill). The cocktail was way too sweet and unbalanced. A hour plus later when our food arrived my dish was cold when I got it, and I had asked for some hot sauce with it. The hot sauce didn't come out with it. Then I asked the bartender again. Didn't see him come back (again they were severely understaffed) almost done with the meal, have two bites of meat left and he brings out a dressing. When I get the bill I see that he charged me $3 for this tiny cup of dressing, for when I asked for hot sauce, when he forgot it, and brought it out at the end of the meal. I paid my bill, and left, grateful that I never have to visit this...
