Urban Farmgirl truly has some of the most beautiful decor pieces in the area, there’s no denying the charm and style of the items they carry. That said, I was really disappointed to hear about the experience my mother had when she recently visited the store.

She went in after a friend recommended it, hoping to find some decor for our newly refurbished living room and possibly a mantel. Instead of receiving the warm and helpful service we’ve heard so much about, she was met with a dismissive attitude. An employee bluntly told her they didn’t have what she was looking for and didn’t offer any alternatives, suggestions, or even the courtesy of treating her like a valued customer. It made her feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, as if she didn’t belong there.

What’s even more upsetting is that my mother, a minority woman, was simply trying to shop and browse like anyone else. The employee didn’t take the time to ask what else she might be interested in, assuming all she wanted was a mantel and brushing her off immediately. As someone who works in the service industry, I know how important it is to treat every customer with respect and kindness — even if we can’t provide what they’re looking for. A simple recommendation or friendly tone goes a long way.

Farmgirl Favorite boxes are a monthly explosion of all things that make your house a home and instantly put a smile on your face! I love this concept and have not ever been disappointed with the contents. Every box is so impressive and the attention to detail is amazing. I feel like it was all just picked out especially for me. I know that Mary and the UF team take so much time selecting just the right pieces that compliment each other and are seasonal, timely, and trending. It is a fabulous way to try out different decor that you might not normally buy. For example, the January box included a beautiful olive throw blanket and now I am obsessed with this color. The January box was probably one of the BEST boxes that I have ever received which says a lot as I am a total Christmas gal and normally fall in love with all holiday boxes but the pottery included within this box has given me a new appreciation of having some clean and crisp staple pieces.
