My daughter was being bullied, by several of her peers. In talking to a long time friend, she had suggested The Edge, saying that a close friend of hers, has a son that goes there. From the moment we walked in the door, the vibe was just comfortable and professional. Sir Justin is so relatable , with the kids. He teaches so much about bullying, and self defense. He teaches respect and "stranger danger". He most importantly teaches the kids in the fashion that works best for them. If he sees a kid struggling, he takes the time to help them without taking away from the other kids. Now, with the Covid situation, he has my ultimate trust and confidence. I have never seen a place so clean and well kept. You can see Sir Justin constantly mopping the floors and cleaning, even before this pandemic. He holds zoom lessons, and private lessons. He keeps a mask on during the private lessons and teaches how to do the lesson, using a dummy, so there is no person to person contact. I could go on for hours about this place, but you have to go experience it for yourself to get the proper full understanding of why this place is so amazing, And, he also teaches adults too. I am not part of an adult class, so I can't comment on that but over the years, I have seen many adults coming in for the classes as I was leaving with my kids so I can only imagine the adult classes are just as awesome as the kids classes are. I can't wait for my 3 year old to have the focus to start taking a class. She is already watching her sister's classes and trying to follow every move she does so it will great because she will already have a head start. Check out The Edge Ultimate Martial Arts. You won't...
Read moreI heard of Edge from another parent who was extremely happy with this place.. and I can now totally see why.. I am a mother of a 5 year old boy who began at Edge almost a year ago, when he was only in preschool.. My son absolutely loves this class.. It never gets old for him, he is up to 3 xs a week now, sometimes 4, and yet still he looks forward to attending the class each day he has it.. He has grown tremendously since he began.. Not only are his punches and kicks way stronger, and his technique improving all the time, but also I see a difference in his confidence level as well as his ability to focus.. The kids are all like a family there, they are a great bunch, and it is nice to see that they feel they are a part of something. As for the staff at this academy, I am beyond impressed by what "Sir" Justin Rios brings to the table... He shows commitment to the kids he teaches. He is strict with his students, as he should be (he doesn't mess around! He keeps them focused which is great!).. but yet, he also makes sure the kids are having fun and that they get some laughs in here and there...(He even has us parents cracking up at times, he's a pretty witty guy! ) Justin shows he cares and gives the attention each kid needs, and as far as price, for what these kids are getting from these classes, it is WELL WORTH it.. I have been to other similar businesses that charge way more, yet they don't give the kids half the attention that Sir Justin gives.. Overall we are very happy with Edge, and we feel fortunate to have heard about this place...
Read moreHaving studied a variety of martial arts off and on for 30+ years and as a fitness professional, when it came time to choose a school for my three daughters it was not something to be taken lightly. I could have easily selected a school out of convenience, but instead did my research and checked out several area schools. There are at least a half dozen martial arts schools closer to our home, but the curriculum and instruction is well worth the trip. It is the most comprehensive program in the area addressing both stand-up and ground fighting. The confidence my girls have received at The Edge has translated to the soccer field, the basketball court, the classroom and the playground. Founder Rich Raciti, Executive Director Justin Rios, and his instructors not only teach technique but also life skills, such as how to deal with bullies and how to treat others with respect. Justin Rios is a gem. His ability to teach advanced skills and techniques, yet make the classes fun while instilling discipline at the same time is very unique. It's rare that you find an instructor that instills discipline, but can also make you laugh while doing it. If you can't tell, I highly...
