After a quick search in this new neighborhood I found this place. I read the reviews and felt comfortable with calling to speak about dinner reservations. Phone person was a bit short but no big deal I know in these Covid times everyone is short staffed. So I opted to sit outside. My server came to greet me and took my drink order. I settled on 1 dozen steamed clams, 1 bowl of split pea soup and prime rib from the family section of the menu. She then informed me there was no daily specials. So I went with the "broiled pork chops" which state they are thick and juicy. I asked chops medium rare (light pink center) and a baked potatoe with butter on the side. Clams arrived, and my sever then asked if I want lemon, yes please. Clams were cooked in a light broth with a small portion of melted butter.. Soup arrived and she then asked if I want bread. Soup was hearty and not one of the better soups I had. Chops arrived with my potatoe no butter, and a side of vegetables steamed. Cut into my chop and it was well done. So well done that when I cut into the chop the serated knife made little meat flakes. I looked for my server or any server and she was just not around... I waited till she returned and was polite and told her my situation. She returned with the manager who said she would cook me another plate of pork chops. I told her please no thank you and asked her to hurry with my bill as I had a up coming appointment. Never once did I say remove the meal from my check. She took a good while to return with my check and one chop on a plate with a Styrofoam container.
I did not try the chop at the restaurant. I paid my bill tipped my waitress well and left still hungry. About 2 hours later after my appointment I get home open the container and warm the chop for 1 min in microwave. Cut into my chop and its way under cooked. Perhaps there meat thermometer was broken but so was my faith in this place. I would like to think from the previous reviews it was just one...
Read moreWe have been going to the Golden Pub off and on for decades. There are some patrons there who go several days a week! One man we know every day and orders lunch takeout! It is a neighborhood family oriented place that is very warm and friendly and single people are welcome there too and dine alone in comfort. The chicken and ribs are smoked for I believe 10 hours or more and are very unique and tasty and there is a very good variety on the menu in daily blackboard specials to satisfy about every taste. The ribs were delicious yesterday with an ample salad and vegetables and today we went back for a wonderful broiled flounder and beef goulash over noodles. The place is decorated beautifully for Christmas now and very festive for holiday parties. Food is fresh and presented in an appealing fashion. Wait Staff is friendly, as is the owner Stosh who is hands-on with a lot of the cooking. The daily specials are good buys and a number of people we observed order the sizzling steaks and lobster tails. Luke is our go-to waiter but everybody is good who works...
Read moreThis restaurant is really good . The atmosphere was very laid back and comfortable, very homey like. We had a party of fifteen and there was no problem accommodating us. The drinks were spot on and there was a nice selection of drafts on tap. I had an awesome Weihenstephan beer on tap. All of our food came out at the same time and was very good. The French dip is very tender and flavorful. The fried and stuffed mushrooms were cooked perfectly. And the fried calamari was awesome. The salad with the filet mignon was cooked perfectly, the chicken parmigiana, stuffed flounder, and stuffed chicken was very good. Everyone enjoyed the food. The chef definitely deserves five stars. The service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous. I definitely recommend this place. Very good food at reasonable prices. We will...
