The Pit Surf Shop ROCKS! This place is run by an exceptional group of folks who are knowledgeable and love what they do! I just have to share my awesome experience with everyone.
I called on Thursday hoping to schedule something fun for my 13 year old daughter on her trip to Florida. Maddie was friendly and answered all of my questions about the surf camp. Her helpful attitude made me feel confident that I chose the perfect place.
On Friday our plans changed last minute, and my daughter couldn’t attend the full camp session that week. I called The Pit hoping that they could work with me on scheduling, but nervous that they wouldn’t be willing . Clint, who is the owner (and super cool, if I might add), answered the phone. He gave me options, and it was apparent that he was flexible and client focused. It’s so rare that you get to talk to the owner directly, and that they go out of their way to accommodate you. I hung up the phone impressed and surprised that it was so easy to work something out. We scheduled a private surf lesson for Monday, and worked out a great solution for the quick change of plans.
Monday we showed up for the lesson and the surf was almost completely flat. We met Poncho, the super casual surf instructor, who offered to switch up the surf lesson for something else after the surf didn’t get any better. We ended up using a stand up paddle board and had a blast on the perfect flat water. We even got some unexpected extra time because we were having such a blast!
We can’t wait to try another lesson (in better surf) and recommend The Pit Surf Shop for all your surf and skate needs!
Thank you, Clint, Will, Bodie (sp?),...
Read moreIf you went to a beach bar and want to buy merchandise stay away from this place. My wife and I left Beachcombers and stopped at this place to buy my wife a Bikini and flip flops. The girl that helped us was great but when we went to cash out the guy cashing us out was a complete a-hole. Because ny wife had some drinks,I hadn't drinken at all, he was very rude to her. Keep in mind nobody was I the store. I had a bikini on the counter $40 each piece, 2 pairs of flip flops for $90 and $40 plus a pair of $20 socks. All he had to do cash us out but he made a huge issue that my wife had been drinking. This is a beach town that thrives on tourism. Nobody was there to be offended. I left the merchandise on the counter and walked out he followed us out the door saying he was going to call the cops. I told him to go ahead and he proceeded to put up both middle fingers at us. Very unprofessional and childish. This man should be fired immediately. We left and went to The Surf Station Store on Anistasia Blvd. and were treated very well and spent $300. They were shocked at the way we...
Read moreMy 10 yr. had a 2-hour surf lesson with Bailey. It was a fantastic experience. It was easy to schedule the lesson and Bailey was awesome. She is upbeat, positive, encouraging, and was attuned to my daughter. The lesson started on land with Bailey explaining surf etiquette, safety, and how to pop up on the board. Then they went into the water together. Bailey helped my daughter get out on her board and provided guidance and support. She was genuinely excited when my daughter got up and surfed and she encouraged my daughter when she spilled. They came in for periodic breaks and Bailey was up for whatever my daughter wanted to do - which was mostly heading back out after a 30 second break. Most of all - Bailey connected with my daughter in a way that my daughter still talks about. It was a wonderful introduction to surfing. If we return to St. Augustine, we plan to reach out to the Pit Surf Shop to do another lesson...
