It was my first time eating at Beachcomber as a local. It was on Good Friday, so it was busy with people on Spring Break. I took my mom, my two young sons and our chihuahua to lunch here. First off, the parking situation is not good. There’s not enough spots so they had a parking attendant who helped us get a spot. The man came off a little unnerved or maybe a little stressed out over having to handle the parking. We get up to the hostess stand and the ladies seemed friendly and told us it would be an hour wait. When we got to our picnic table that was in the sand, the kids loved being able to play with the sand while we waited for our food. I think this is the coolest thing about this restaurant, the fact that it’s on the beach. The ambiance was very nice and I would come back here just to sit at a table in sand again. It felt like we were on vacation. We ordered chips and salsa to start, and I couldn’t believe my eyes, it cost $12.95 for a small bowl of tomato salsa, and a handful of chips. Total rip off if you ask me, and I wouldn’t have ordered it if I saw the price. It was the worst salsa I’ve had in a long time and tasted like it was a store bought in a glass jar. The chips were tasty though. We then ordered 1 lb. Of pink shrimp for $29, a side of potato salad, two cups of Minorcan clam chowder, a hamburger kids meal with fries, and a grilled cheese kids meal with fries. They had a pet menu so of course we got our dog, Emmy, a hamburger patty. That is pretty awesome they let dogs into their establishment and have a special menu for them. We get the clam chowders first and the first taste was too much pepper and the clams were very chewy. I didn’t like it and have had a lot better Minorcan clam chowders in this town. We then got the shrimp and they were big and very delicious. The shrimp is the only reason I would come back here because they were very good. The butter sauce and cocktail sauce went well with them. It almost tasted like we were eating lobster. The potato salad side came in a tiny sauce container and had about a couple bites of potato salad. The size is too small and it really felt like we got skimped. Everything seemed overpriced for what you got, and besides the shrimp, it just wasn’t worth the money. The kids enjoyed their meals and the dog really liked hers. Our server, a nice man, and I’m very sorry we don’t remember his name, was very attentive and did a great job. I would say overall, I didn’t enjoy the food enough to visit a second time. I’ve eaten at much better quality restaurants in this town and for prices that match what you receive. I hope they can make some changes to have their food match their ambiance of being on the sand by the beach. To me it felt like a tourist trap restaurant and not a place for locals. The food was...
Read moreAtmosphere was great. Weather was beautiful. My toddler had a blast playing in the sand. They even had a few sand toys. We had sweet tea, Mr. Pibb, Diet Coke and Water. We started dinner with Fired Calamari and fried Gator tale. The calamari was really good. My mom thought it wasn't good enough but it wasn't gooey or slimy. Everyone else really liked it. The Gator tail was a smaller size. Came out darker in color than the fried Calamari. It was very salt. No one ate much of the Gator tale which is a big disappointment because we really like Gator tail. I ordered the Shipwreck Burger. The fried shrimp was good that came on the burger. I asked for it on the side and ordered cheese on the burger. The burger came with a piece of lettuce and tomato. The burger was flavorless. No seasoning. Fries were pretty good. Crispy outside but soft inside. Nice flavor. My mom ordered the fish wrap with coleslaw. It was spicy but she didn't have any other complaints. The Coleslaw was the WORST taste we have ever experienced. It tasted like spoiled food. I couldn't even stomach it and had to spit it out in my napkin! It left a horrible taste afterwards too. Informed the water and tried their potatoe salad, which wasn't great either. It had red potatoes which was nice but so much dill it was overwhelming. My 10 year old wouldn't eat his cheeseburger due to lack of seasoning. He said it just didn't taste like anything. My husband ordered the Anastasia Catch of the day meal, which was swordfish. It was good. My husband ate the entire filet. It came on black beans and rice along with vegetables. Which he said the beans and rice was okay. vegetables (green beans, zucchini and red peppers) once again didn't have much flavor at all. Which is sad because it doesn't take much to give vegetables a good grilling flavor. Our waitress was very helpful and nice. Tentative for refills also. Overall the view and experience was nice but we won't...
