After shopping at Duluth Trading my mother, sisters and myself went into this store to purchase Christmas gifts for the men in our family. I found a coat in the women’s section with an advertised sale price of $59.98 also 20% off and the regular price listed in small print was $119.98. The name of the coat and a picture of the exact coat were all displayed on the sign as well. I was so happy to be getting such a great deal on an early birthday gift for myself! I was also purchasing two hats at $19.99 each with 10% off. Once at the register the clerk double checked the price of the hats and scanned the coat. The coat rang up at $95.98. We let the clerk know that the sign said it was $59.98 and the manager went to check. As he headed back to check the sign the clerk stated whatever the sign says that’s what it will be. We could hear the manager make a surprised remark when he located the sign and he came back with it in his hand. He admitted to the mistake when making the sign but said he would NOT honor the price displayed. My sister then told him that she understood he made the mistake but he needed to make the sale right with us and honor the price displayed. He said no he couldn’t sell it at that price. She let him know she had worked in retail and that is what you do to make the situation right. He refused and said he didn’t have to do anything. The clerk at the register then retracted his statement of honoring the price and said it was the managers call and pointed to him. At that time my sister was so upset she put back over $200 worth of items and left the store. The manger then said he would do 30% off instead of 20% of the full price with his backed turned to us like we were nobody’s. My mother did not want to patronize the store after being treated so rudely so we decided to leave the items on the counter and leave the store. The total for both sales would have been around $400. Pretty foolish to lose a total sale over a mistake that he admitted to but that was his call. The demeanor of this manager was rude and he has absolutely no customer service skills. My sister was literally shaking once we got into the parking lot she was so upset on how he handled the situation and spoke to her. People make mistakes and they have bad days but this was ridiculous. We have shopped in this store every time we visit Bass Pro. We will be letting all of our family and friends know to take their business to Fairview Heights IL or other Carhartt retailers than this store. Customers are not always right but in this case we were. Regardless the CUSTOMER is who keeps you in that job by the revenue your store makes. Think of that the next time you treat someone like their business doesn’t matter. I guarantee your career in retail will be much more gratifying and maybe give you a whole new perspective on...
Read moreI have shopped the Dungarees store and bye mail order for years all of my outerwear clothes are Carhartt brand the only I wear to work. I'm a Construction Superintendent and have enjoyed the toughness of the Carhartt brands. So two weeks ago I purchased three pairs Carhartt dungarees pants two at the regular price and one pair irregular because they didn't have the color I wanted in stock at the time I was in the store just before closing time on a Sunday afternoon and no time to tried them on. But I was sure of my size also so I purchased all three pairs the same in the waist and length. But when I made home I tried on all three pairs and only the two at regular price fits, the irregular pair wasn't close to the correct size in the waist about four inches smaller and the store would not exchanged for a pair of pants that would fit me and let me pay the different in price. I don't plan on ever going back to store to purchase anything from that day forward! I hope the young man salesmen make you plenty of money in the future, and don't run away the rest of your loyal customers. Sincerely unhappy customer of...
Read moreBeen a customer for years and sad to see it go downhill. Huge selection of different types of pants and shirts. But only have 1 or 2 pair in each size. Followed by the "we can order it for you and it will be there in a week" response.
Not sure how to reply to a post so I will just edit mine. I understand the difficulty in trying to keep a wide selection of products available but when a large portion of the showroom is taken up by safes it makes it even more difficult. As far as the ordering products weather it is shipped to the store or home. I can do the exact same from the comfort of my home and not have to drive 1 hour out of my way. Tradesman like myself frequent your store to physically buy products not to order them like they are already capable of doing. I reluctantly already made my purchase of multiple colors and types of pants and shirts because their was only 1 in each size and I need...
