The only good thing about this store is the locally owned & decent varieties and prices are pretty good. Most of the employees were really nice but sadly lacking in customer service skills. Very stale personalities with a few exceptions who I think are awesome & hopefully they know who they are hummhumm Adam Lololol). Store seems over staffed with some just standing around, which is actually what they're supposed to be doing! Basically just standing! Makes me think a lot of unnecessary labor costs which could be passed onto the customers 🤔 or maybe even the employees get a lil bonus of some sort heck IDK but if so many people are scheduled then why not at least clean the place up! It's not a very clean store but the groceries move so fast most of it is ok. It's the general cleanliness of it is diff though. The way it's set up is imo very awkward and strange. So not the cleanest place, quite a few employees were just idk bored maybe? No kinda sense of humor a lil like trying to make a brick wall smile. Just my unimportant opinion a couple were just straight up rude! Thankfully I only observed their rudeness & didn't have to work with them! Life is to short to be pissy if you don't like the job you've chosen that much then find something else! Don't be a rude karen!! Lol A couple seemed like they were doing almost ALLL the work..despite all the haters of Brothers if you use their app!!!!!!!!! they are pretty much in the top 3 cheapest places to shop it's clean and spacious there's a small wait b/c it isn't overrun w/ workers paid to do nothing except watch for shoplifters unfortunately seems like ALL stores are having trouble with that which doesn't help w/ the costs of groceries &...
Read moreI come here for grocery shopping about bi weekly. I go out of my way to shop locally owned stores and businesses because it’s the right thing to do when you have hoards off corporate stores grabbing at your money to make their CEO rich. The staff aren’t usually too chipper but that has never really bothered me before. It’s not that big of a deal, not rude, not out of their way to be nice either. I go in today and I’m very happy because I found a lot of good produce marked down. When I got to the register, the cashier scanned my items and told me my total. $8 something. I realize I forgot my card in my car. I tell the cashier “I believe I left my card in my car I have to go grab it.” It took me more than 30 seconds to one minute to find my card. Maybe 3-4 min. I go back in to pay for my items and all of the employees that I can see in the front are standing in a circle talking and when I walk in the cashier says “there she is” to them which leads me to believe they’re standing there in conversation about my ordeal which really didn’t sit right with me a customer. The cashier that rang me up then proceeds to tell me she put all of my items back because she thought I wasn’t coming back. I’m not sure how else I could have made it more clear I just had to go find my card in my car. I was not about to re find everything that I had because the cashier couldn’t wait 3 minutes. I said thank you and walked out. Won’t be coming back. Didn’t feel like they wanted or needed my business today or any other day for that matter. I’m sure my $8 of marked down produce wasn’t a dent in...
Read moreGreen Hills is a true bulwark for the St. Joseph community. They've been around before many of our residents were even born. Rays is a family-owned grocery store that has been in this town for years. Kovacs were a well-known local grocer too, but they recently fell to the big league corporate pressure. Both of the Green Hills offer great prices, even better than Wal-Mart on most grocery items. You can't buy a swimming pool or new pair of shoes, but if it's groceries you're after, Green Hills is the one you want. Always clean, always fresh, better prices and selection than the corporate competition. I found fresh starfruit. I haven't been able to find starfruit anywhere! My daughter gets to try a delicious and healthy treat for the first time. Did I mention the meat? Freshest and clean red meat in Saint Joseph, hands down. After a visit to Green Hills it's obvious why they're the last man standing, even against mega superschains that CLAIM to have it all at the lowest prices. This is the Show Me state, so go down and see...
