I joined Club Fitness (St. Peters location) to get ready for my wedding. The first day I was there, a trainer came up and basically told me that I was doing everything wrong, and that I wouldn't get anywhere without him. He pressured me into signing up for training sessions.... not just a few training sessions to see how I liked it - 96 sessions. It was my fault for not saying no, but I thought this would be a good way to prepare for the wedding. This was also a waste of over $3,000.
I did lose some weight, but a few months later that trainer up and left the company. I got a new trainer, and it was clear this guy was on his way out as well. He was more interesting in joking around and talking about his potential girlfriends than talking to me about my health. He left the company shortly after. I tried to get out of my contract, because I didn't have that many sessions left, and two trainers had already left on me, and it felt like I was starting over each time I got a new trainer. Instead, they gave me 15 free sessions to not leave.
My third trainer was knowledgeable, but he made me constantly feel bad for leaving the gym after my training package was up. He told me I wouldn't be able to motivate myself without him, and I wouldn't be able to use the machines properly, etc. I asked him to provide me with a training plan to make sure I was using the right muscle groups, and he assured me that he would give me one before my last session. My last session was scheduled for a Saturday, and my trainer never showed up. So, of course, they gave me a free session. On my last session (finally), the trainer did not bring my training plan, but he assured me that he would email it to me. That was a week ago, and I still havenât received anything.
I cancelled my membership online on February 10, and I just got an email stating that the March billing would be my last. Why they need an entire month to cancel my membership is beyond me, they clearly need that extra $10 a month. Anything they can do to suck you dry, while providing poor service.
In summary, this gym is terrible. It barely has air conditioning, and it's always steamy and hard to breathe. Itâs dirty â I would argue with my trainers when they wouldnât give me a mat to do push-ups on. They would assure me that the floor was clean, and I barely believed them. One day, a cockroach ran across the floor and my trainer smashed it into the groundâŚ. The same ground he wanted me to do push-ups on, without a mat. The women's locker room smells TERRIBLE. It's a gym, but it should not smell this bad. Cardio equipment is ALWAYS broken. Sometimes, multiple machines in a row are broken, and people have to wait in line for an available machine. I am aware of multiple reports of theft, both from the locker room and from the cars in the parking lot. The training staff will make you feel terrible about yourself, but they will beg you to stay (by giving you free sessions). The training staff will also be flighty â donât expect them to remember that you were supposed to weigh in today, or that you promised we could do boxing. Thereâs no way they can remember you personally, even if they spend two hours a week with you on average. The front desk staff is not friendly either; donât expect them to say âhiâ when...
Read moreSo I have been with Club Fitness since they opened around early 2000âs (one of the first customers to sign up). I donât rarely complain and keep to myself but this time I feel like it needs to be said. You have kids as managers and what I donât like is how they talk to Club Fitness customers as well as not wear Club Fitness attire when speaking to a customer.
Note: The weather was 80 degrees and rising outside so who knows how hot it is inside.
I went in around 8:25am and trained in the back til 9:40s. I train almost every day and noticed today the fans were not on. I go up to the front counter where I see a man with a Club Fitness shirt another bearded man with gym clothes on and a female club worker. They are all talking and I addressed to the guy with Club Fitness shirt, âAre the fans in the back working.â So the guy tells me while still writing whatever he is writing down not even paying attention, âWhat are you talking about?â I addressed it again the back and pointed. He looked up and was about to talk and this other guy jumps in and starts talking to me. Now I donât know who the hell he is since he was in gym clothes but he says, âProbably the trainers turned them off.â So I said, âOk well can we get them on because I am training back there and need some ventilation.â The same guy tells me, âIts an easy fix bud.â
First of all if this guy had a clue, I'm probably almost twice his age and secondly who is he. So after 5 minutes the guy with the Club Fitness shirt goes back and turns them on. I go back up to him and said, âAre you in charge today?â He addressed by the trainers table while still writing something down and not even looking at me, âYes I am.â Ok, well when I address a problem and ask for a simple turn on the fans I donât want to be addressed by a guy in gym clothes as âbudâ and easy fix when it should of have happened.â
What upsets me the most is this guy who is in charge is ignoring me the entire time and saying âYeah and okâ looking down at his yellow sticky and keep writing what he needs to write down. So addressed it, âHey sir I am complaining and look at me or do I need to file a complaint?â Thats when he wrote my name down. I asked â what is that for?â He hesitates and then says. â Well I will um address the unconduct with the general manager since he is the one in charge.â Like it was no big deal or it was for something else. So I advised him Iâll file a complaint and what is your two guys names so I know. He replied, â Zac and Dave is the...
Read moreTheir membership inclusions & exclusions are misleading. I signed up for a basic membership in March. I went in and asked where the womenâs area was & was told that the womenâs area is not included in the basic membership. This is not stated ANYWHERE on their website or under the inclusion sections of their membership sign on. I was also lead to believe that the Edge Kids Zone is only included in the Strong membership. The second time I tried to use the Kids Zone, I was informed that they were at capacity & was incorrectly informed of their Kid Zone hours. The next couple times I tried to use the Kids Zone, they were also at capacity. When addressing a membership specialist regarding my concerns about them not being fully transparent about the womenâs area only being covered under the strong membership, he apologized & said all he could do is upgrade me. When addressing Travis, upper management of the only 3 Edge Fitness locations in Missouri, the first time I was told they are having staffing issues but was reassured theyâd be fixed immediately. Two weeks later, I spoke to Travis again expressing my desire to cancel my membership. He told me I am only allowed to cancel due to moving or medical clearance. He stated that Kids Zone is actually a free service provided by all Edge Fitness locations in Missouri. It is not part of any of the memberships specifically. He also told me that having to wait for children to be picked up in order to drop off at Kids Zone is âjust part of itâ. I asked him who I could speak to that is over him & was told that there is no way to reach corporate. He offered me an email address which he previously told me all emails direct to him anyway & whoever I get in touch with is going to give me the same answers he gave me, which was essentially âget over itâ. I wouldnât recommend Edge Fitness to anyone ever. Theyâre not up front about anything at all & their customer service is one of the worst Iâve seen in a long time. Do not, do not, do not make the same mistake I did by signing up with this gym. There are MANY, MANY...
