We recently lost our grandmother while in the care of SRHC. Prior to her death, she was seen in the ER for vomiting and diagnosed with a vomiting virus. She was living independently and could it care for herself so she was admitted to the hospital but remained in the ER. She was eventually moved from a recliner to an ER bed. She remained in that ER bed for over 2 days before moving to icu. Grandma had terrible back pain and cried out continuously during the night from pain with no relief given. She was care for by both bad and good nurses. However, her good nurse was a nurse from the third floor who was working in the ER to cover the admitted patients. There were no nurses to work the night shift so patients were being kept in ER. grandma began showing signs of weakening throughout the day complained of pain in her feet, pain in her stomach and pain in her back. After messaging the nurse in our family, she said it sounded as if grandma was going septic. I asked the nurse to show me proof that she wasnât as our family member was hundreds of miles away & wanted more information. After going through her chart, she realize that she needed to give grandma medication and spent a half hour doing that determining what could be crushed up and what had to be swallowed whole by a person who was no longer able to swallow well. She then said she would see us later I can told her no I needed to know what was wrong with grandma and why she was reacting this way, since I have gotten no help, grandma had even started having hallucinations. She looked at her chart again and realize that her blood sugar had been 60 that morning so she decided to check her blood sugar. Grandmaâs blood sugar was at 13 not compatible with life. There was rushed effort to get glucose into her, bringing it up to 27. We did not see a doctor until the following morning, and it was a new doctor who was assigned to her case because she was in such die or condition. At that point, they diagnosed her as a failure to thrive and rapidly her kidneys quit working. She went in for vomiting and no one cared to take care of her well enough. Was she old, yes, but not having hallucinations & low blood until she was left for 2 days with minimal care. I would suggest getting care for anyone you love in a larger hospital who are able to retain staff to work both day and night shifts and not leave aged ailing patients to die in the ER. This was the second time she had been admitted to the ER for extended stays in the past year. The previous being the flu. Did they push her out of her bed upstairs too soon resulting in the following illness/health issues that resulted the next month? We will never know what really caused it, but there are so many things that should have been done better, I would simply advise going elsewhere if you love your family members. Call the hospital and make sure there are rooms available if you need admitted, otherwise call another hospital. Ridiculous that admin is ruining...
Read moreAbsolutely would not want to go to this hospital even if i was on my death bed! The nurses in emergency have absolutely no care for the people in there except themselves. Went into the hospital regarding what could have been low blood sugar. Was told my blood sugar was okay but was took back for an I.V. mind you once the iv was put in I didnât see nor did I hear from anyone for an hour. A nurse had then came in to pump fluids and another came to do an EKG (P.S.A let me not forget to mention them not even remotely telling me why this is being done for being fatigue and sweaty or giving me test results from the test they did an hour and a half before hand.) I was then left alone for another 45 mins. The same nurse who did the EKG came back in to tell me the nurse who monitored my fluids was wanting a urine sample once i could pee. Again not informing me why i was needing to give another sample for testing. As another hour goes by my fluids are about empty and i have no need to pee. I press my call light as a the nurse comes in i ask âwhat testing is it iâm waiting to hear onâ she looks at me with confusion in her face and ask âare you ready to head homeâ i respond yes she then walks out of my room to sit back down and finish laughing at the other patient next door to me struggling with medical treatment. I give her time maybe 10 minutes to see if she was writing up something for me to leave. I was wrong. she ignored me. I then press my call light again t then which another nurse came in the same one who gave me fluids. I asked her what was the hold up with my blood work that was given 2 and a half hours ago. She respond with an aggressive attitude â I told you how long this would beâ I then proceeded to ask for my iv to be taken out. At this point i felt drained. Not drained from my low blood sugar that they reported to me was not an issue but from the IV that was ripped out of my arm by the nurse who was upset i needed to leave to eat from all the blood work. I was drained from multiple testing being done just to hear anything at all. Not even a your okay. This hospital cares...
Read moreDon't bring your family/lover one into this hospital literally the worst. Some of the nurses are nice don't get me wrong for example Jacob from the ICU is the best nurse in the whole wide world he is caring and will come up to his patient and check up on them every 30min and he will ask the family member in the ICU if they need anything. The worst nurse and aide that I ever experience was a nurse names Shannon and her aids Angela and Olivia. They were unprofessional and they give me and my family so much attitude. For example Angela or Olivia the ICU speciality tech told me that she does not want to come into my family member's room to pull them up every 30min. Like I never experience a nurse/aide that doesn't want to help their patient. I gave them simple instruction on how my family member in the ICU wanted to be treated and they gave me so much push back like they don't want to help. The nurses Shannon is the worst nurse that I ever experienced. I currently work in the medical field for 4 years and I never meet a nurse that was this unprofessional and uncooperative in my life. She gave my family and I so much attitude and my family and I felt like we were being discriminated by her and her aide. She comes in the room without saying "hello" to the family member, she didnât explain her actions to the patient which confuses the patient, and she seem like she doesn't want answer any of my questions and address and any of my concerns. I've notice that they check up on their other patient but they never check up on my family member unless I call them that was the reason why my family and I felt like the nurse and her aids where discriminated against us. So if you every see the names Shannon, Angela, or Olivia your family member's white board please do you and your family member a favor and ask for another...
