DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!!! I can't stress this enough! Seriously. To even begin to share the frustration I've had with this business is a major understatement. I took my Range Rover here to get my first to second gear fixed. I got the run around for MONTHS! It was in the shop for a total of 4 months! They never called every so often to give me updates, I always had to call them and see what was going on with it and why it was taking so long to get it done. I'm not one to expect a job like this to be done right away. I understand it takes time to get it in and work on it but for 4 months?! The whole time it was there I just didn't get a good feeling about it being there just because I felt like I was being given the run around every time I called. It was as if there was never any real progress with the vehicle and they'd get to it when they felt like it. Finally, after picking it up 4 months later, I drove it home and noticed it was leaking transmission fluid. I called them right away and they recommended me to take it to their Ogden location. They then "fixed" the leak. I drove it away and got no further than the second stop light and it starts smoking on me with transmission fluid draining out of the transmission and spitting out of the exhaust pipe. I could literally barely move it off the road which took everything the vehicle had and drove it into the parking lot where it had to be towed back to the SL location to be fixed. As if this whole situation couldn't get worse, after looking around my range rover, I noticed their careless mechanic curbed my front wheel while putting it on their rack. I then called them out on it and they acted like they could care less and refused to own up to it. I understand things happen and no one is perfect, but come on! At least own up to it and fix the issue. That shows the integrity of their business. I would never ever recommend ANY of their locations at all as they are all the same. After getting it towed back to their SL location, it was in the shop for another 3 weeks. So about 5 months total I had no vehicle. Save yourself the worry, time, money and potentially damage to your vehicle since they don't truly care about their customer or their property. I wouldn't give them any stars if it were possible. OH! One last thing, their manager who I had been working with since day 1 randomly quit the day after these issues happened (which one of the owners told me) which I thought was really strange. Then a week later the manager was back to work and I asked him where he went and he said they fired him but brought him back because they needed him. Talk about SHIFTY!!! Don't allow yourself to go through what I went through!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCalled to have a quote for the power flush service that is provided. Had Jason, the manager of the location I later learned, answer the phone. I asked for a price quote for the vehicle I have, 1998 Toyota Camry. Which was $200 +, seems reasonable for what was "offered". I continued to ask simple questions, if there is a warranty that accompanies the service, no, what is replaced with the service, what type of fluid is used, synthetic or traditional oils. Once I asked this question I was told they only use synthetic oils, after doing some research about transmission flushes, there is a fair amount of literature on the inter webs about how using synthetic oil may actually cause some harm to transmissions made before the synthetic oil boom, so I asked. For whatever reason this question irked Jason, he then said you don't seem like you want our services, click.. The phone call was terminated, I immediately called back and guess who answered, Jason, so I asked to speak with his manager, I am the manager, may I speak to your General or Regional Manger, there aren't any. Is there an owner I may speak too, no, I am manager. I then proceeded to ask why I would be hung up on when I was simply asking questions to the "Manager" of a transmission shop, about transmission related questions? You were yelling at me.. If you could see my desk you would understand why this happened.. I had another call coming in and I was attempting to answer that call.. All of these were his response(s) before an apology, it is absolutely asinine to think this is the manager of the store, I can only imagine the treatment a customer would receive while on the premise of this and perhaps ALL Tanner Transmission stores. I am extremely frustrated and irritated by the way I was treated. Simple questions for a service costing over $200 should have answers, after having an argument over rudimentary questions at 8:00 AM in the morning, it is clear I will not be taking my car to be serviced by this company. I would highly recommend all customers do a small amount of research and ask the pertinent questions to have a clearer picture of the technicians that will be working on your vehicle. These simple questions got me the answer I was looking for, this place is looking for money full stop. They aren't trying to create a relationship with clients and customers, they want to get you in and out and have your money in hand before they shake your hand. I am astonished that this was my first experience with Tanner Transmissions and I am very happy to know that my vehicles will never be in the hands of the people that run these shops. 0 Stars would be the rating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a terrible experience here. Me and my brother were doing an engine swap on my truck and i figured I would get the transmission rebuilt at the same time. He has over 20+ years mechanics work on all types of cars and even semi trucks. I took the transmission down there and it took them 3-4 days to rebuild. Keep in mind this place is a good 30 mile drive from home.
We picked the transmission up installed it and went to start it. Apparently they forgot to install a plug and it shot transmission fluid all over when we started the truck. 3rd trip down there to get the plug they forgot and a trip to auto part store to buy more expensive transmission fluid.
Once installed I had to take it down there for an inspection to validate the 1yr warranty. When I got there he told me he didn't have time for me and that I should have called and that I should come back another day. Really? for a couple minute inspection? 4th trip down.
On the 5th trip down, along with the inspection I also had an issue where the Neutral Safety Switch was relaying the gear the trans was in incorrectly to digital display. I asked him how to adjust this and he said he would do it and it would only take 10 min. So i waited in the lobby (its very warm in the shop) for overall about 2 hours. He comes back and says the switch is not working and that he doesnt know if i adjusted it too much and broke it, but will warranty it. Adjusted too much?? What? I didn't even know how to adjust it. The catch? I had to take the truck home and bring the switch back. trip 5 down.
Trip 6 bring the switch back and he says...ok i'll warranty it...but they are closed today..come back another day...i asked for my money back from what he charged me for it so i could just buy it at autozone and he almost laughed at me..said it had wear on it and that my brother caused the problem when he installed it. What a joke! Told him to forget it and i'll just be out the 100 or so dollars he probably charged me for it. Went to AutoZone and got a lifetime warranty one for 40 bucks.
Bottom line DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS. I dropped $2000 on a transmission rebuild that WE took out. He said i saved $700 by taking the transmission out ourselves. WOW. Even after spending two thousand dollars its nothing to him. 2 star for trans work..it seems to work fine, -3 stars for # of trips for their mistakes and being too busy for me..and attitude of front desk guy who doesn't care how much money you...
