CONSTANT PRICE INCREASES (1/28/19): Public Storage is raising its prices again. Now, they're raising the price of a 10x10 storage unit to $192 per month. They started at $134/month, quickly moved to $155/month, then increased to $172/month. This time, they are raising their monthly rates to $192/month . You do the math! RENTERS BEWARE! Don't be tricked into initial, introductory prices. I have not noticed or experienced any improvements in the facilities or services that would justify such a massive price increase.
RETALIATORY PRICING (2/22/18): I am an active customer of Public Storage in Sammamish. I just received a call from the Sammamish Public Storage site manager. He told me that the District Manager for Public Storage (Jason) had agreed to cancel my recent HUGE rate increase (from $134/mo. to $155/mo. to $172/mo. over the course of around 1 year), and that I simply needed to call Jason. The site manager was unambiguous and crystal clear in his words: "Jason agreed to cancel your rate increase." When I called Jason, though, he told me that he is not going to cancel my rate increase. When I asked him what he was talking about, he berated and insulted me. Jason told me that he will cancel my recent rate increase only if I delete the review that I recently posted on Google. I explained to Jason that his request was probably illegal under Washington law and that it was definitely unethical. Even though he had already told his site manager that he agreed to cancel the rate increase, Jason told me that he will not cancel the rate increase unless I take-down my review about my experiences with Public Storage. I communicated to Jason that his actions are retaliatory and may violate Washington State's Consumer Protection Act (unfair and deceptive acts and practices). RCW 19.86. It's ironic that Jason is retaliating against a customer for posting an honest review, particularly when his site manager actively and aggressively solicits Google reviews from each of their customers. BUYER BEWARE. You should not be afraid to post reviews about your experiences with Public Storage. Instead, you should be wary about renting a storage unit from this company. It makes me wonder whether other reviewers are also afraid about retaliatory pricing.
CRAZY HIGH PRICE INCREASES (2/4/18): Don't get lured-in by high customer reviews. The site manager actively solicits 5-star reviews from every new customer. He hands them a card with a website domain/URL and tells them what to write. It's part of his routine. The PRICE INCREASES at the Sammamish Public Storage location are crazy. A 10x10 unit started at $134. Within several months, Sammamish Public Storage increased the rental rate to $155. Now, only 11-months later, they increased the rate again to $172 per month. That's a huge increase in one year. I observed NO improvement in the facility or in services. Rather, it seems that they simply increased the monthly prices. YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS. Be an informed consumer and...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePRICE FRAUD. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. I'm kicking myself for not heeding the warnings from others about Public Storage in Sammamish. After a few short months of renting a unit, Public Storage raised my monthly rate by $21 per month (a 14% increase). The exact same unit is currently renting for a whole lot less money. When I called the on-site manager to inquire, he told me "that's what happens in the real world." He could not care less whether I or anyone else stays as a renter at Public Storage. The site manager told me that Public Storage regularly raises the rental rates throughout the year, even though he did not make the same admission when I first rented the unit. Also, he didn't care that the exact same unit was renting for much less money. He suggested that I call the corporate office to see if they would be willing to help me. So, I called corporate Public Storage. Like the local store manager, corporate Public Storage didn't care whether I or any other tenant stayed or left. The phone representative told me that he was powerless to do anything because the corporate officers of Public Storage made a decision to raise the rates and that he wouldn't make a change for any customer. Evidently, this is not an isolated occurrence. RENTER BEWARE. Shop harder before renting at Public Storage. You are lured in with a publicly advertise rate; however, they raise the rate regularly and at significant increments. It's important to know that you (as a storage unit renter) have many other, local options. Public Storage of Sammamish doesn't care about keeping its customers. This is a classic lure and mislead tactic by Public Storage of Sammamish. I find it sad that the site manager spent so much energy and time trying to convince every new customer to give him a 5-star review on Google. In reality, though, the company and local store don't care about anything more than taking your money and having a public image that does not mesh with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first experience using a storage unit. My Public Storage site is in Sammamish, WA. Both Mark and Ken were professional and efficient in getting me set-up and running me through the business process of getting the unit as well as cancelling out of the unit. Their process makes renting storage very easy. One thing I want to mention regarding my situation -- I signed up for the unit in the middle of the month with a $1 for the First Month promotion, on 3/17/2018. They always charge the rent on the first of the month. So, promptly, on 4/1/2018, they charged me for half a month's rent for April. Since the promotion for me started on 3/17, technically, they should have charged me for 13 days of rent, not 15. As it turns out, I never used the unit and so I am in the process of getting a refund for the amount anyway. According to their policy, I only have to give 2 days of written notice, which I have done. Information for those going through this process, their refund policy states that they do not give refunds. Rather, once the rent is charged on that first day of the month, you have the entire month to move your things out of the unit. In my case, because I never used the unit and I am asking for a refund within 30 days, the customer service representative says they will give me a refund. Refunds have to be approved at the district level which means making an additional phone call to the district manager and leaving a message. I am hoping to have another positive experience for this refund process as well, but won't know until the district manager...
