Me and a Friend decided to go and visit downtown San Angelo, He had never been down there so I decided to show him around since I am from here. We walked all around Block One and came back to Eggemeyer's when he decided to go inside. I have personally never been inside the store so I was really looking forward to it. We walked in and it was actually really beautiful, it was nice to see such a well kept store still in business. We walked through the front of the store and walked towards the candle's, I love to smell them and see what else there is. When we got back there a man appeared beside us, not asking if we needed help but just standing there. We moved to the rest of the candles and still he stood there, not asking us if we needed help. We then moved down to the second part of the store where the man still followed us around watching us, a few moments later he was still beside us and on the phone this time but talking to the person on the line about how they needed to turn the cameras on. I am no rocket scientist but I do know how to notice when someone is watching me or talking about me. We let it go and continued walking where the man still proceeded to follow us. We then walked back up to the front of the store where the lotion is where a new man started to watch us. My friend walked back down to the culinary area because he is leaving for culinary school and was very interested in the stuff. The man proceeded to follow him down there and then I went and found him and we finally left. I knew we had to leave for the simple fact I knew I would have eventually said something. I knew they were watching us, anyone could of been able to tell. I am really upset that the fact that we didn't look like the normal "Clientele" so we were treated differently. I am really unashamed of the way we were treated. I have no reason to cause problems much less steal. I really think they need to learn how to treat their...
Read moreMy sons (ages 2 and 6) were playing with the train tracks they had out for kids to play with and this older man came over and approached my 6 year old (instead of me his mother who was right there) and told him he needed to play right with the toys or he needed to go away. As the man walked away my son dropped one of the trains on the ground. Totally by accident it just slipped out of his hand. I thought that man was going to lose his my mind. He got in my son’s face a told him again to play RIGHT with the trains. Mind you these are out for kids to play with. That’s when my husband interjected and shifted it so the man was talking to him and not our six year old son. We of course made my son appologize and say “yes sir.” Because we want him to treat all adults with respect even if we don’t agree, but inside I was fuming. After that the man stood there and watched our every move and followed us around the store. So my husband and I took our kids outside while we waited for family. It was embarrassing and, while I see his point about being gentle with the toys, I thought his approach was rude and condescending. I worked in retail for years and I can’t imagine treating patrons like that. At the end of the day he has a right to do what he wants in his store and I respect that. But I have a right to not buy anything and warn others of our experience. Also I’m sure the older gentleman is a good person and I don’t want to bash him personally. I just did not appreciate his approach to this specific situation. We won’t...
Read moreI would like to thank Eggmyers for giving us some fond memories of our visit to San Angelo. This was our 2nd visit to the store, and will most definitely be our last. We heard so many wonderful things about Eggmyers several years ago, so we made the trip from Abilene with our children to pay it a visit, and drive through the light show along the river. Upon entering the store on our 1st visit, we had the lights literally turned off on us and we were ushered out after 15 minutes inside. We decided to attempt the store again this evening, and again made the trip from Abilene. We double checked the hours this time, and made that our first stop upon entering San Angelo. We browsed for a bit, when our youngest needed the restroom. Upon asking where it was, we were told it was closed for cleaning. I stood there a little in shock, when another gentleman overheard the conversation, child in tow, and stated he had received the same response a bit ago. I placed the items we were fixing to purchase at the front counter and we left. At least this visit inside lasted 20 minutes. While we browsed, I was also made aware of the 'notice' above the tasting samples that stated 'samples are for adults only'. I would like to apologize to the staff of Eggmyers in San Angelo, for bringing my children someplace where they are most definitely unwelcome. It will not...
