I’ve always loved Aldi and was so excited about this location opening up since it’s closer to my house than the other one in Mira Mesa. I parked out front around 8:45 and sat in the car waiting for Aldi to open at 9 so I could start my thanksgiving grocery shopping. While listening to music in my car, I hear and see three men hanging around my car. They first went up to an elderly couple that parked in front of me, also waiting for Aldi to open. The men said derogatory things to them and I could tell the couple was very confused and scared. I started looking around and saw a security guard walking around. I figured I would go and talk to him later about the situation. The security guard was nowhere to be found later. As I’m getting ready to get out of my car, the men come up to my car and start pushing on it from outside, telling me to come out. I lock my door and start the car. As I’m reversing to try parking farther away, the men are making faces and telling me to call them. I moved my car and made the quickest trip into Aldi to grab my groceries, feeling very nervous about walking back out to my car and perhaps encountering those people again. I won’t be returning back to this Aldi, even though it’s the closest one to my home. Part of the experience of shopping is knowing that you can feel safe parking and walking to and from the stores. I was very shaken up by this and will be going back to the other Mira Mesa Aldi from now on. I’ve been there many times before this one opened and have never felt unsafe at that one. I urge future Aldi customers to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings and hope that the parking lot management can work towards hiring a security guard that will actually be present to...

The store is well-organized, with a clean and modern layout that makes it easy to navigate and find what you need. Aldi's hallmark affordable prices and high-quality products shine through, making this location a great choice for anyone looking to save without sacrificing quality. Their selection of pantry staples, fresh produce, and international items is impressive, and the efficiency of their checkout process ensures a quick and seamless shopping experience.
One of the standout features of this Aldi is the variety of unique items they carry, from their European-inspired snacks to seasonal products that keep the store feeling fresh and exciting. However, there is room for improvement in their organic section, which feels limited compared to other grocery chains in the area. While they do have some organic options, expanding this selection would be a welcome addition for health-conscious shoppers and those prioritizing organic produce and products.
Overall, the new Aldi brings great value and convenience to Mira Mesa and is well worth checking out. The staff is friendly and helpful, adding to the positive experience. With a little attention to expanding their organic offerings, this store has the potential to become a go-to spot for a wide range of shoppers in the area. Whether you're looking for affordable essentials or something a bit more unique, Aldi is a welcome addition to...
Read moreThis review is for the management/ownership of the store
Every single employee here is knowledgeable, kind, and very hardworking. They all deserve a raise for putting up with the general public!
I went into the store this morning and found out the self checkout is now limited to 15 items AND most of the self-checkout machines have been shut off. Additionally there was only one cashier on duty. This is not fair to your customers OR your employees. Now checkout takes longer since there are not enough employees to man the registers. One of the best parts of shopping at ALDI is the checkout speed - and the reduction in self-checkout options is a huge bummer.
If theft is such a problem, then having additional employees checking receipts or monitoring the self-checkout area would be a much better solution. Or hire a security guard!
Either way - please consider reversing this policy. It's not fair to your customers...
