Balboa Park Golf Course is a fantastic destination for golfers of all skill levels. Our recent round at this historic course was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and it’s clear why it’s a beloved spot for local and visiting golfers alike. The course itself is beautifully maintained, with well-manicured fairways and greens that provide a great playing surface. The layout is both challenging and rewarding, featuring a mix of long and short holes that test different aspects of your game. The views throughout the course are stunning, with picturesque scenery and a sense of tranquility that makes each round a pleasure. One of the standout features of Balboa Park Golf Course is its location. Nestled within the sprawling Balboa Park, the course offers breathtaking views of the surrounding parkland and cityscape. It’s a treat to play a round of golf in such a scenic and historic setting. The clubhouse and facilities are excellent, with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. The pro shop is well-stocked, and the practice areas provide ample opportunities to warm up or work on your game. The on-site restaurant offers a great selection of food and beverages, perfect for a post-round meal or a relaxing break. Overall, Balboa Park Golf Course is a true gem in San Diego. Its combination of challenging play, beautiful surroundings, and excellent amenities make it a must-visit for any golfer. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this course is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for a memorable round of golf in a stunning setting!

Both courses (9 and 18) are well maintained and offer their own challenges. The 18 hole is a great deal for the course, and most of that time you forget you’re playing in a city due to the course layout. It’s a lot of fun, and has a great variety of holes. The clubhouse is pretty basic, but the staff is professional and friendly. There’s a putting green and a driving range as well. It looks like there’s a little bar there as well, although I’ve never gone. The only reason I’m giving 4/5 is the course needs to work harder to keep the rate of play up. Took us 3 hours to play the front nine last time we were there, and we were waiting anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes each hole to hit. In the end, if you’ve got the patience, it’s a course worth playing. I’ll certainly come back.

Played here the other day for the first time. I was surprised how tight of the fairways there was on every hole. It’s actually quite a difficult course. You probably want to be a >20 hcp At least to even play here because you’ll find yourself if some tough situations with forests around most holes. Easy to lose balls. Greens were playing fast early in the AM so balls would just keep rolling for days. I’ll have to give it another shot to see if I just had the jitters when I played or if the course is actually that difficult. You really need to know how far you hit each club to manage the long par 4s and 5s. With cart and players card it was still around $70. Views are nice but the course is kind of mid. Walking is possible but it’s a long course.

I remember visiting there with my dad and family ones but it was to go or meet with certain neighbors or friends of my dad and while we went and the setting and been set early the day and then later the day or the next day we went and it was of the green grassland scape area where there were mostly trees from the left side area and of the back area and where ones had been there to be there and the ones to be ready to be of their own and make their own time for own areas and certain ones to make a different own way to try to get by of the ones front areas to go to or by when it was for the speech or meeting to start. And it was certain ones to be of the left side area and take one of the young ones that came running from the back area tot he lefside area and when it was where I had to run to too and from the back area I was at from the left side area where I had waited and a few had went there to where I went to and left and my brother too and where the left side area where one ran too and i too and then the other one went too and then of the white van that was there by the tree area and when the front area of the speech to ones to make or one and then one to be in away and checked and stopped then two other ones to get their way to the front or put a move and then to be stopped or arrested and the two three to make a speech and the city or country office one official and my dad was one of them of a few to make a speech then the others who was to try to get their time to make the speech and take over the speech area for selected ones to make and the middle area where a box was to be passed by to someone or handle too and from one that came to the middle area where my dad was by around and then when the one rot wo to try to get by and then were sudden checked and to be stopped before one for the ones go in line and for ones to make a speech and one that to get a hold oft he box and that may had something inside or a note that was to be inside and then when I was at the front one area where i had ran too and took my own way of my step to be like and wait for a little time when someone was to be there for a leading certain mexican one to check of the time of the ones areas and their own mens from the each areas of two how it went and then when it was from the one certain adult one to be in the front area where i had took my steps to stop and wait and my dad to be there and then in a time to do before a time of one of the other mexcian one to be in the front area and then if a call from the leading mexican one from there side to make a call of it went different or wrong for him. But I made my way after a little view of him then it went and his little view and owns view of his areas and then when the front crowd area of ones to be and the certain ones of his to make their own move and then when it was then to try to make a move by the ones in the very front area to get of the ones areas to make it to the front to make their speech and when the certain one to be in a move etc and check sudden and to be stopped from making a move from two ones to go make their own speech the time and my dad to have been there and stop one to do something or make his move to the one or it was to my dad first. This statement is off the back of the scorecard, PACE OF PLAY POLICY: For the enjoyment of all players, "our pace of play policy is strictly enforced. All players are required to keep up with the group in front of them. Continously putting is encourages. Early morning players should play in 4 hours or less and midday or later players should play in 4 1\2 hours or less. I played on Friday afternoon and it took 5 hrs to play. The pace of place was so bad that one person in the group dropped out because of the" strictly enforced pace of play policy" you have. After I finished I wanted to discuss my dissatisfaction with the pace of play but the club house was closed. Came back Saturday morning to discuss the matter with the general manger and they where not there. The person I talked to was giving me all kinds excuses, we don't have enough staff to marshal in the afternoon, then he blamed it on the greens being to fast and this one this is a public course. The bottom line is you can up will all the excuses you want but there is no excuse for a 5 hr round, maybe one if you playing in scramble. Many years ago I placed on public course ,where the pace of play was slow, a person in our group also dropped out. Finished the round and went to talk to people in the pro shop explained the situation to them, they were very understanding of the situation unlike the ones at Balboa Park Golf Course. In the end Pinehurst No. 2 took care of the whole group. THANKS again Pinehurst No.2 As for the golf course it was enjoyable, the views of downtown where nice and the price was reasonable. Don't know if I will place this course again. So if your thinking about playing this course...
