The staff at this Rosecrans location is hands down the friendliest, most personable and knowledgable teams I've seen in San Diego in a while. Let me not forget to mention they're fun, understanding and down to earth. I will forever be grateful for your acts of kindness during the worst weekend of my life. I walked in desperately needing a charger for my dead scooter, no wallet, my cell phone is died, I have my phone charger but not a single establish would let me charge my phone. The area is a little rough so I somewhat understand, however I literally had a brick thrown at my head for "stealing" electricity at 7-11 down the road. Not a single place was kind enough to hear my story, or lend a hand. But big 5 did, and they let me charge my phone so I could order a Lyft home. While I waited I observed the team interact with each guest as soon as they walked in. They acted as if they actually enjoyed going to work. Read moreI bought a bodyboard here last year. I bodyboard frequently and I loved the board. I went back to buy another bodyboard in July. The bodyboard broke after three uses(not Big 5’s Fault). I will went back without a receipt 2 months later to see if I could get store credit to purchase the original board that I loved. Although they did give me the store credit, their demeanor seemed like I was a burden and they were not enthusiastic at all to help me. Even the store manager came to the front so he could pull the receipt up from their system. Not even a “hello” or “I’m sorry” or “I am glad to help you”. The only thing he expressed to me was that I purchased a low quality board(the most expensive board they have) and I shouldn’t expect it to last very long. I politely told him that I had great success and longevity with another model that he carries at a lower price point. He didn’t aknwoege my response and walked into the back to get my receipt. I bought an inflatable Kayak from here which was $80 over the internet price. That was fine. I wanted to go fishing TODAY.
However when I opened the Kayak I found that it was a return (scuffs on it and no instructions).
When I tried to inflate it not a single one of the pressure valves held. It was obviously defective and had been returned for a reason.
When I returned it I received a sorry, not sorry attitude from the manager as well as all the clerks standing around starring at me with their mouths hanging open as though I'd just walked out of a space shuttle.
No one cared about all of the time I'd wasted with their product nor where they remotely concerned about customer satisfaction. They didn't even offer to exchange it for another Kayak (probably another returned Kayak as they only had two).
This was the worst experience I've had in retail without having to yell at security for following me...
