I recently found myself in a tough spot after my go-to Japanese stylist at Great Clips suddenly left—no heads-up, just gone. As someone who’s pretty particular about who touches my hair, this was a dilemma. I need someone with an eye for detail, a great personality, and someone who gets what I’m going for. I’ve always preferred Japanese stylists—they have a sharp sense of style and precision that I really appreciate.

After a quick Google search, I found Hair by Mimi—and I’m so glad I did.

For a bit of context: I’m a 45-year-old guy dealing with thinning hair and a solid 5-head. I told Mimi I wanted a style that made my hair look fuller and helped soften that forehead. I gave her full creative freedom, and she absolutely delivered. Since it was my first visit, she played it a bit safe with the style to see how it would grow in—and I think that was a smart move. I walked out completely happy with the cut, and I’m already looking forward to seeing how it shapes up over the next few weeks.

We love our hair! My daughter received her first official big haircut today and had a great experience it’s Mimi-san. My daughter was comfortable and so happy with the results going from long to short. I also got a major cut (but didn’t take any photos yet) I was so unhappy with all my dry split ends trying to keep the length for as long as possible but enough was enough and it had to go! Mimi- san did a similar cut on me like she did for my daughter and it’s giving new year new me! Not only am I rocking a brand new hairstyle but finally my hair feels healthy again! We look forward to coming back!

This was my first time with Mimi and I was nervous at first since I didn't have a great experience at other salon in the area because of my complicated history with hair dye & bleach. Mimi encouraged me to talk through my experience and understand my needs while making great suggestions! During the session, she also gave me advices on how to make the color last longer.

It was so fun just to talk with Mimi as she is super friendly (and I got to speak in Japanese with her which was great!!) and her price is also super reasonable.
