It was my first time at this restaurant. The welcome staff was immediately friendly and welcoming. She was actually NOT inconvenienced from her conversation to greet and seat me! I WAS LIKE. "Why aren't you snarky and bored?" Kylie, the super table service person, was so polite. Greetings! Names? Drinks? She got it all in with a smile and warmth. She offered menu ideas and food options. I pounded the table with my fist and demanded bad, rude service. I am not used to this, this, courtesy stuff. I almost changed my name to Karen and demanded to speak with the manager! This polite customer service thing must end. Otherwise, I will want it at other places I might go to dine. But, I maintained my composure. Dinner arrived swiftly to the table, my beverage refreshed, hand wipes, and additional napkins. I gazed down at my meal. It looked nice. Beans, mashed fluffy, potatoes, steak, and ribs. I paused, thanked the Lord, and then raised my fork, knife, and pinky's and delicately cut into my steak. I would like to pause and say I have eaten many steaks in my boomer life. I know steaks and ribs well. Too well... says my dietician. I must say this steak went to the top of my list, moist, tender, and full of flavor!!! Then I tried the bone in ribs next. I used my hand to attack this curved BBQ covered beef bone. Yeah... it was amazing. When I finished my BBQ ribs, my dinner guest laughed at me. Not only did I stop talking to eat, but the curve of the tender ribs had left a red bbq sauce painted smile on my face from cheek to cheek. We laughed. Wet naps came in handy. And Kylie was always there tableside, checking in with us. Dessert was ice cream cookie balls... crazy good. Check. Tip. Farewell salutations. And out the door a very satisfied customer. Truthfully, I would have gladly walked out with a BBQ sauce smile smeared on my face. It would have reflected how much I enjoyed my delicious meal, the atmosphere, and the pleasant customer service. Thanks, WoodRanch. I'll be back. Keep those ribs tender...
Read moreOur experience was very good for a late lunch. This was made five star by our waitstaff person. She was the most genuinely cheerful person with great skill at suggestions, and also attentive, but not hurrying. Another plus was huge lunch servings as you will see in photos. My husband especially loved this. Also, for me, the lunch special of half salad with their house made balsamic vinaigrette (still enough for two people!) two sliders of your choice topped with their coleslaw and pickles, and one side of your choice was a great lunch deal. First off the house salad was really good with cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced marinated cucumber, grilled corn and carrots on a fresh bed of greens! Simply delicious! I picked the brisket slider and SC pulled pork slider with a side of the skillet baked beans, which the beans were nice and sweet. The sliders came with ramekins of bbq sauce, brisket sauce and pulled pork sauce, which was nice to sample all three! I especially liked the brisket and will return to have that as an entree! I also added a baked potato side and it was a truly perfect baked potato which impressed me! My husband had the veggie burger without the bun, generously topped with avocado, and peanut coleslaw which he really enjoyed. We had the mixed berry cobbler for desert, which was more like a berry crisp made with a delicious crumbly oats topping, and garnished with a scoop of ice cream and a lovely mint sprig!
This is a large seating area restaurant with tables and booths of various sizes. They have sports screens at the comfortable bar and covered outdoor seating that has a canyon view of surrounding area, which is still nice for fresh air if you like that! There is also ample parking so that is a big plus. I saw the fresh cut fries carried by and those looked really good! I would honestly say the food is more like 4.5 stars, but all of the ease of dining here with great waitstaff and bus-guys constantly cleaning really made it five...
Read moreFirst time to this restaurant, the only reason why we came was Lil Piggies BBQ in Coronado was closed. We actually heard of this place from Lil Piggies because we said they are the best in all San Diego and they said they came in 2nd place right after “Wood Ranch” there’s no way this could be true! We walk in to the restaurant with 10 people max! The waitress looked pissed to see us with no welcome in fact starred at me until I said if I can please have a table for me and my family. The date is 8/20 at 4pm. I came for ribs! They came out Overcooked mostly fat. The amazing waiter Omari offered to bring tri tip pictured here. Blubbery and unable to put my knife through it . So finally chose a ribeye and it was good but extreme salty beyond enjoyment. I told my waiter ok this cook is new there’s Noway you can miss this big. He said actually he is. I said it’s cool. The unhappy manager Armando with no customer service skills came and eyed me like I was a criminal haha wow. He told me he was just gonna charge me for the ribeye after tasting it I told him I’ll pay for something else but I don’t think I should pay $35 for the third item that is not good. He said, but you already took a bite come on man you gotta pay for it. I said no i don’t that’s not cool. He said well then I will have to charge you for the ribs and I said OK that’s fine. Don’t worry I will never come here again. He said “let’s hope not” so I was like wow your the manger and that’s what you say to a customer. He then realized he shouldn’t have said that and tried to comp the whole meal, which I refused. I said no im paying for my family they are happy with their meal. So I did. The only thing that gives this place value is a waiter named Omari- that guy has managerial/people skills. This place is a waste of time except for the atmosphere. And Omari haha! Unbelievable!...
