First, I’ll start with the good. The location right next to the freeway was convenient and parking was adequate.
Unfortunately, this was the only good experience with this hotel. I would rate zero stars if I could.
I booked my stay at Mission View Inn & Suites and paid for my stay in advance through Booking.com.
Booking.com is responsible for most of the problem since Booking.com took my payment to and failed to pay Mission View Inn. Booking.com used a third party for processing payments to the hotel and their payment method was declined.
My complaint with Mission View is that during check-in, the hotel manager just checked me in as if everything was normal and never informed me of the problem with the payment from Booking.com being declined. This is where Mission View Inn dropped the ball and compounded the problem and made it bigger rather than inform me of me of the problem.
Fast forward a day. The next night when I’m just settling in, I heard somebody trying to open my door then received a call from the front desk asking what room I was in and informing me that my reservation did not exist. It was then, a day later, they finally told me that my reservation had been cancelled because the payment was declined and that I was not supposed to be there and that my name wasn’t in their system.
The question I have is: how did the hotel manager not know there was a problem when he checked me in? How could he not know the payment had been declined and my reservation had been cancelled by the hotel he manages? If he did know, why did he check me in and assign me a room as if there wasn’t a problem? If I had known while checking in, half of this problem could have been avoided as I would have just found another hotel without the extra hassle.
I went down to the office to see if I could straighten out the problem. They informed me that I could probably stay that night. I had reservations for the next night as well so I could spend the day at LaJolla. Well conveniently of course, the manager was out and could not be reached so I had no guarantee about the next night. I needed to know whether I could stay the next day as well. I don’t leave my car parked unattended in San Diego with all my luggage while sightseeing if I was forced to check out the next night.
The only logical decision for me was to leave and get another hotel nearby without having to wait until 3:00 PM to check in so that I could be assured to have a place for the next night where I could put my luggage while out in San Diego. “Maybe” or “might be able to” doesn’t cut it.
I’m attempting to get a refund from Booking.com and of course Mission View is trying to get their money from the third party company that Booking.com works with. What’s funny is that I asked Mission View if they had the contact information for the third party company and they told me no. They apparently do since I was told they’re attempting to get their money from the third party.
If Mission View is successful in getting all their money from the third party, a MINIMUM of what I want is a REFUND for the night of September 21 since I wasn’t staying there at...
Read moreBe careful ladies if you are traveling alone this hotel is not very secure. I stayed at this hotel twice ,the first time I was alone and had lots of luggage I asked the Manager Santiago if there were any carriers for my items as I was placed on the 3rd floor in the back facing the woods/ a dark car dealership. He replied yes they are on the other side of the hotel and I should go and get it. I went around the other side of the hotel as requested and there were no carriers … after waiting the sun is going down & a staff member came out found a carrier help me load my luggage and take it up the elevator. By this time it was dark outside and the staff helping was extremely weird. On a separate occasion, it was 7-8pm (dark outside) there was a guy doing “room keeping”, he was walking around with a house keeping cart. As I noticed him watching me I went the other direction, he proceeded to follow behind me. I started walking faster… so did he. He began walking even faster and I didn’t know what to do so I turned around and told him sternly to keep his distance. I kept my hand in my purse to suggest I had something to protect myself and hurried off. The remainder of my stay I did not walk inside alone past dark.
The next time I stayed my fiancé arrived and we got a room on the first floor it was not clean the rooms are not renovated the furniture is very old and there was a huge spider in the bathroom.
The staff will tell you do not put your key cards next to your phone , wallet , and keys , as they key card will not work well those are things that you normally have next to you at all times.
I went to the lobby to get a new key card , verified who I am and what room I was staying in and Terry was at the front desk at the time and would not let me get a new key card to let me in room at 10pm at night. I asked if he will allow security to walk me to my door so I can show my ID. At first he said no, and stated unnecessarily sarcastic “You are the customer and you are not in charge. We are going to do this my way.” …. After going through his procedure, he agreed to my initial suggestion, he gave security a key to my room so we went to the room. We get to the room and the key card would not work for the security so he went back to get another. Once he return let me in and told my fiancé to stand outside. As I was getting my ID the security started to bang on the door WITH HIS FEET ! I opened the door showed my ID and he walked away looking stupid!
I let Santiago know what went on the next day he said the GM Joel would email me about the incident because all of my information is on file…. I never received that email .
Not only a Poor representation of Wyndham but the hotel truly isn’t safe. They will have you jumping through hoops during times you should be being cautious. As independent owners of Wyndham and travelers the expectation is hotel safety at the very least!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND...
Read moreStayed for a total of 5 days 4 nights. Upon check-in, we received 2 key cards for our room. Had to pay a check-in early fee. We were also told that there is no more free breakfast served. Great… We took the elevator up to the second floor where we were staying, and the elevator looks like it’s going to give up at any minute. The rooms are numbered very weird but basically the even numbered rooms are on the right side of the building and the odd numbers are on the left side of the building. We could not get our room keys to open for the death of us. Got frustrated and had to go back down to the lobby to get some new cards issued. Went back upstairs and it finally opened. The rooms are very outdated. The rooms have a lot of lights, but they’re very yellow in color so the whole place feels very eerie. Bathrooms are whatever. Had a mini fridge, microwave and a small coffee maker in the room. Beds were pretty comfortable. Had the AC blasting the entire time we were there. First night was alright. Second day, we put the do not disturb sign on our door so cleaning crew wouldn’t come in. They didn’t enter which is fine, but they didn’t enter for the rest of the time we were there, even though we took the sign off the door after the 2nd day Our garbage was piling up in the room, never got fresh clean towels. The 3rd night I believe, I was in bed and fell asleep. Around 1 a.m., I got woken up by these ignorant group of young men right outside my door. Not sure who they were or where they stayed, but they were being so loud and obnoxious that I contemplated yelling at them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and fell back asleep. Things got quiet for a while. 2 hours later at 3 a.m., those same boys came back being 10x louder. I called the front desk and told them that the group of boys have been yelling/screaming since 1 am. I asked if they had security or something to tell them to shut up or to kick them out, but front desk said they had no security staff, but that they’d come up here and talk to them about it. I’m not sure if they did, but 10 minutes after that I finally got some peace and quiet and fell back asleep. One other downfall is that the shower curtains don’t do their job. They constantly slide around and water still ends up all over the bathroom floor. I put a towel right outside of the bathtub and it was SOAKED by the time I got out of the shower. We also never got a restock on toilet paper or toiletries. This place is a joke. I wouldn’t recommend you or anyone to stay there. Saw a couple sketchy things happening there as well. You definitely get what you pay for. Keep in mind, my husband made this reservation, not me. I’ll probably never trust him again to make any kind of...
