Everbowl Mission Valley — Restaurant in San Diego

The service and the environment I experienced were five stars, make no mistake. Cute shop, professional staff, and clean and tidy. Check, check, check. This brings up the stars in this review for Everbowl. Solid job there.

So now the rest. I got a pretty straightforward açaí bowl – granola, bananas, blueberries, strawberries. I passed on the drizzle of honey. My first taste was something closer to ice cream. There was so much sweetness and sugar that couldn’t finish even a third of a medium. I felt sick it was so sugary. I think the fruits may have even been glazed in simple syrup? I didn’t know you could even make granola that sugary and still make it look like granola. A talent I guess?

My fiancé got the coconut and cocoa powder base, that was essentially chocolate ice cream and marshmallow fluff. He likes these açaí things more than I do (by a long shot) and he also threw a good majority of a medium in the trash, also unable to finish it because of the amount of sugar.

So if you’re looking for a froyo or ice cream replacement, this might be your spot. Or if you’re about to return someone’s kids to them and that someone has deeply wronged you, this place is prime. Here is the thing, Everbowl has been a fave of mine for a while, last year I used to go way too regularly as their chewy bowl was to die for. My only complaint about it was that they only had one size which was way too big. Everbowl has now started selling three sizes, which is amazing, but the “large”, which used to be their regular size, is now 3 dollars more. Here is the not so great news, they changed their menu and recipe and I’m really not loving it. Their Açaí went from from freshly blended with fruit as you order it to a pre made purely açaí sorbet and unfortunately it isn’t as good. Changing a restaurant’s main thing changes everything. Other new options vary, they now have chia seed pudding, and oatmeal you can add to the bowl, which I like. Their peanut butter is also a new recipe and I don’t like this one as much either. 😫 bottom line, I’m disappointed because everbowl took an amazing recipe, ruined it, and is trying to charge more. All they needed to do was add additional sizes.

I also saw the owner offering to meet customers there and walk them through the new menu. Come on, people don’t need an explanation of something that doesn’t taste...

Come by this nice little spot for your next acai bowl! Pooch friendly so bring your dogs with you! Limited seating both indoor and outdoor but haven't had much trouble finding a seat whenever I come. I like the EVERBOWL which is the classic acai bowl with fruit toppings. There are other bowls with different bases, some with peanut butter mixed with acai, some with added vanilla and cacao mixed. If you want anything else added to your bowl that's not on the menu, then add $2 to create your own bowl. Honestly, it's a little pricey for an acai bowl($10 for a regular sized bowl plus tax).
