For Celebration of Life Review: My review of MaiTai Charters is well over due. MaiTai included the most amazing, incredible, and respectful crew, captain, and service my family and I needed for this day. Expectations/Accomodations: We did not know what to expect as Mai Tai seemed to be more of a party boat than a Celebration of Life. But the boat was beautiful and the staff assured us they could have the place supported for this type of thing. They had a stable area were hardly anyone gets sick for older guests with a toilet on the same level, could have food set out on the bar or on tables, they had a small tv (or we could have a projector) for the slide show), the bar would be as casual or fun as we wanted, we could have nice decor and flowers arranged, and music for both the tables below and upstairs that we could bring ourselves, and could come on the boat 30min before to setup. Service: The captain and crew treated my family and I so respectfully and extended themselves beyond what we just professional. They knew what we were all going through and were absolutely amazing! They helped keep everything clean and no ones glass was empty. They seemed to find anything anyone needed from sweaters to small tables. It was just the kind of absolute, “someone else has this so we can mourn” thing that we needed when all our friends and family were there. We needed that. Incredible behind words. Burial at Sea: I will mention one item for anyone doing a burial at sea with ashes. This is by no fault of the team but by the design of the boat. The boat decks are WELL above the water (6ft). So this means you either bring something to slide or lower your loved ones remains in to the ocean or/ you’re dropping it in with a huge splash… We had not really calculated this when we arrived.
The Mai Tai crew, my sister, and l decided the best idea was to use my incredible moms welcome board to slide her biodegradable sand urn into to ocean… hahaha kerplunk! Honestly, it worked out for us and we cried and laughed and cried some more. My mom got the last laugh in for us all like she would have wanted. Together and laughing like family with her. Just thinking of it makes me tear up. And the crew of Mai Tai was laughing and crying right there with us.
So if you are thinking of who to book with, order Mai Tai for your Celebration of Life cruise or any cruise. If you are like me and feel like others just were very expensive and just didn't really care or felt like it was just another cruise, you will not have that booking with this...
Read moreSpecial shoutout to Captain Rolland and Bartender Ava for making our experience so memorable!
We booked a 3-hour excursion for a bachelorette party that included an open bar, but honestly we were so down to stay much longer because of how fun this was. We met the captain at the docks where he had some papers for us to sign but we were promptly boarded on the ship immediately after. Also a short safety briefing and we were out on the waters! The Capt had a giant speaker for use so it was a tru party on the sea. Our bartender Ava did more than take care of us as we brought some snacks, food, and our belongings that she prepped and took care of for us! She also kept the drinks flowing constantly so we were never with an empty cup. She really made sure we were well taken care of. Capt Rolland pulled us up to some sea lions that the girls absolutely loved and even stopped in the middle of waters for some of the girls to jump off and swim out from!! So so fun. We cruised around the marina and the views were spectacular with the San Diego skyline surrounding us. They really took care of us and made it such an unforgettable and unique experience that we already miss them all so much. They even took pictures for our group that was sent to us in less than 5 hours from our excursion so that's also one less thing to worry about!! My biggest tip would be to plan on getting there super early so you can have the most amount of time possible.
I cannot recommend Mai Tai charters enough! Seriously cannot wait to...
Read moreI booked mai tai yacht back in may 2021, for my bachelorette weekend in sept. 24 I get a phone call sept 1 stating we need to pay an additional $340 in port fees to keep our reservation because San Diego ports has increased their fees. However I expressed that is an internal issue and doesn't reflect me Or my booming , I was told well " it's not my fault either " I expressed Mai tai is the company and they are expected to absorb the fees. San Diego port did not just decide 3 weeks before my bachelorette party to increase port fees by " 400%". No where in the contact does it state " subject to change port fees based off of San Diego port " or anything remotely close to this. Mai Tia states they will not charge port fees. Then I was told if I don't pay the additional $300 in fees I would be charged 15 percent fee for cancellation. When I'm not cancelling I am being forced to pay over $300 in hidden fees. Then when I declined and demanded 100% off my refund Dan tried to only refund 90 percent " to cover his credit card transitions fee" which once again is an internal issue and has nothing to do with me. This booking was paid for in full in may , 4 months later I received a text message " hey call me ASAP " and tied to get an additional $340 from me when the yacht itself was over 1500. So unprofessional. So disappointed If you decide to book beware , 3 weeks before your booked trip he can call you trying to force you to pay hundreds of Dollars!!! If I could give 0...
