SFUSD — Local services in San Francisco

I am writing to express my concern regarding an ongoing issue of illegal parking (l/p 1430416 number 6611005)I have observed at our school(FSK elementary), which compromises both accessibility and safety. Today at 9 AM, I noticed an individual parking illegally on red-marked zones, blocking access for disabled persons and preventing parents from safely dropping off their children.

When I approached the driver to inform him that parking in that area is illegal, he claimed to have a personal permit from the school. However, upon closer observation, I saw that there were two available parking spaces nearby, and the driver spent 15-20 minutes, possibly longer, on his phone instead of attending to any immediate task.

This issue is not isolated; I have noticed that such illegal parking occurs almost every time, with individuals from SFUSD disregarding the regulations and the safety of our community. The driver seemed to have a verbal agreement with someone not related to the SF Parking Department or the police, which raises questions about the validity of his claim. It appears that these individuals are abstracting parking rules and regulations for their convenience at the expense of others.

During this time, I also noticed that at least two parents had to double park unsafely to drop off their kids. This creates a hazardous situation for everyone involved.

I am concerned about the unprofessional behavior of these SFUSD workers. Rules should apply equally to everyone, including SFUSD service workers. I have great respect for the parents, students, teachers, and the community, and it is disheartening to see this kind of disregard for regulations that are in place for everyone's safety and convenience.
