As not only a frequent shopper but also a retail employee once upon a time... let me say this is one of the best shopping experiences I have had in a long time. I frequently shop and sometimes sell at the Austin location but this was my 1st visit to the San Marcos location. As I went into the store, I was acknowledged. As I shopped I made note of any interactions. There was a salesperson doing the dressing rooms and recovery her name is Giselle. She is a gem. Without exaggeration she was attentive but not overly so, polite, informative to the current sales and genuinely had a warm friendly personality. I overheard her engaging other customers. Then, I began interacting with the other employees and quickly realized they ALL are awesome. It became clear that the culture of the environment is consistent with the employees being on point in every way. I ended up staying much longer than originally intended because I felt 100% valued. I spent $113 and got a huge bag of very nice stuff including converse sneakers that had never been worn, a new white blouse for work and some great vintage stuff. Today they had 15% off red tags PLUS bags were 20% off PLUS an ADDITIONAL 15% If it also had red tag!! Wow. Then because they buy your clothing, you literally could recycle what you buy or have at some point, add that amount to your account and not have to actually spend real money. Due to the student population they have a really great selection of brands and a respectable variety. Do yourself a favor especially if you want something nice without a ton of money...go thru your closet, take your stuff here and browse while they check it out. Use the money to get something new to you. And I agree with the review left by TAKE FIVE...the negative comments must be from competitors like Plato's. Seriously. Go here first then go over to Plato's...same universe,...
Read moreI enjoyed my experience here today. Although the wait time at this type of business varies, the wait was not longer than anticipated. The exceptional quality of care more than compensated for it. The staff exhibited friendliness and expertise, throughout the entire visit. I will be selling clothes here again.
I highly encourage anyone wanting to help the environment to sell their clothes here. It takes a lot of water to produce textile, plus land to grow cotton and other fibres. To make a single cotton t-shirt, 2,700 litres of fresh water are required according to estimates, enough to meet one person’s drinking needs for 2.5 years.
Textile production is estimated to be responsible for about 20% of global clean water pollution from dyeing and finishing products.
A single laundry load of polyester clothes can discharge 700,000 microplastic fibres that can end up in the food chain.
The majority of microplastics from textiles are released during the first few washes. Fast fashion is based on mass production, low prices and high sales volumes that promotes many first washes.
Washing synthetic products leads to the accumulation of more than half a million tonnes of microplastics on the bottom of the oceans every year. In addition to this global problem, the pollution generated by garment production has a devastating impact on the health of local people, animals and ecosystems where the factories are located.
Stores like this help a lot! Less than half of used clothes are collected for reuse or recycling, and only 1% of used clothes are recycled into new clothes, since technologies that would enable clothes to be recycled into virgin fibres are only now starting to emerge. This store helps by putting usable items back...
Read moreDo not sell here, it is an absolute mess. They gave me back the wrong clothes and kept some of my items.
The first time I dropped clothes off, everything went so smoothly and nicely. The second time, they told me to shop while they looked through my stuff. I was there an hour and when I asked for an update, they told me that actually my bags had been moved to the bottom of the queue because it was too much (two bags) and that I would have to get them tomorrow morning. Fine, no problem even though they could’ve said that when I handed those bags to them. The next day I called and they said to wait two more hrs. Later on, I was going out of town and couldn’t leave them behind so I went to get my clothes back since it had been way more than two hrs already (25hrs.) They said that my bags had been moved to the bottom of the queue again! Which is fine, I just wanted my clothes back at that point. They handed me a bag of someone else’s clothes that I had to return! They then gave me my bag with items missing! I was missing doc martin boots and Gap pants. They “found” the doc martins elsewhere and handed them to me. When I said that I was missing two pairs of pants too, they said that they had never opened that bag so there is no way they had them. How so if my doc martins had gone missing and they too had been in that bag??? I left without my missing items because what else can I do? I’m sure they will turn up again and they will...
