Let me start this review by acknowledging what went right: I ordered custom floral arrangements from the Sandy Country Florist for my wedding in a nearby town and Karen Huston's (one of the owners) work was great. The flowers were done exquisitely. My wife and I were so happy with the quality of her work.
However, everything else about this transaction was not easy. You know that maxim "Treat others the way you want to be treated?" Well, the owners could use a refresher. As a customer, you want to feel like you're being treated with kindness and respect, but this certainly was NOT the case with this business--and I'll never go back again, nor would I recommend dealing with Sandy Country Florist.
Several times I called or emailed it would take days for the owners to get back to us. And then when I did track Karen down, her dismissive tone gave me the distinct sense that she didn't want to talk to me or my wife. I felt like I was walking on eggshells talking to her when I was just trying to get answers to our questions. I was also never able to get a solid answer as to how much our order would cost before she ran my credit card for it, which was HUGELY frustrating.
And I've never had a transaction when I've been charged before receiving the final invoice, which happened in this case, and it's totally unacceptable! After I reviewed the invoice, which she emailed nearly a full week after I asked for it, I noticed a $25 credit card fee. Since when is there EVER a $25 fee for using a debit card on ANY purchase?!! It felt like she used my card as a blank check, which made me feel greatly disrespected and disappointed. And not only that, the total price was waaay more than anticipated - so much so that I might as well have gone with a Portland florist instead (my wife and I thought it would be cheaper to go with a florist closer to our wedding location...definitely not the case here). Needless to say, this was one of the worst business transactions I've ever had. I highly recommend...
Read moreI called Sandy Country Florist for the second year in a row to send flowers to my daughter in memory of a very special and unusual occasion. Since I'm not much of a flower bouquet designer and I was placing the order by phone, I had to rely on the florist's creativity to bring life to my words -- "make it very colorful and make it smell good." My daughter sent a picture of the flowers. And, for the second year in a row, I couldn't have been happier with the result. My daughter was impressed. On a scale of 1 to 5, Sandy Country...

Their flowers are so fresh they have lasted two and a half weeks! The creative details are very pleasing to the eye and each one has been different but STUNNING! The last one literally made me cry. There is something about true beauty that speaks!
