Spumoni Italian Cafe & Pizzeria — Restaurant in California

I go to this restaurant 5 to 6 times a year, but this is the first time we had a bad experience. Our server never introduced himself, showed our table, took our orders and never again was seen until he brought the check. To better explain: When asked if there were specials on the menu, he said "nothing, we don't do specials here". Took our orders and left. Our food was served by the busboy , our waters and bread as well. It is my wife birthday and when asked if they do anything for birthdays he said "no, they don't do anything for birthdays here, let me check, but I don't think so". He never came back. The table next to us also had a birthday and the server immediately said "of course, let me bring you our complementary slice of cake" . Our server purposely kept facing away from us the entire time there. After finishing our meal (family of 4) i asked for to go container, he brought the container and left, i had to place to place the food on the container myself (they always help us with it) the server came back with the check, charged and brought back with the smile saying "I really appreciate it, thank you" as a sign for possible tip on a 120.46 meal for 4. Sorry, I usually tip 20 to 25% on restaurant but when there's 0 service other than collecting our order I don't feel like he deserved any, made me feel weird not leaving a tip for the first time in years. Today is 6/4/25 ate around 130pm our server had gray color tie. (The server that was in excellent customer service had a red tie). Sorry but this may have been the last time here for us...

I’ve had this dish all over, and nothing compares to Spumoni’s. It’s hands-down the most delicious I’ve ever tasted.

Top notch service and great food. The manager Gio and staff are absolutely the best. I’ve been coming here for a while for the food. Food is great and the atmosphere is very welcoming. My family and I wanted to have a baby shower held here and they were very accommodating. The way the staff served us with such patience and care is unmatched by any restaurant I have ever been. The entire staff was courteous and attentive and not once did I need to ask for anything. I have always like this restaurant but my most recent experience was jaw dropping good.
