Kaldoun Sassila, the owner, is charming and very good at what he does...up until the point of issuing a refund for a returned item. I bought a $2000+ diamond bracelet at his store. It was too large at the time of purchase; he told me he would have it resized to 6" in circumference and to return later that afternoon to pick it up. It wasn't ready when I returned, so he said he would mail it to me. He did, over a week later, and when I measured it, I found that it had been resized to 5.5", the size of a toddler's bracelet. When I tried to clasp it around my wrist, the clasp broke and the bar of diamonds became unmoored from the silk cord they had been adhered to. I returned the bracelet and asked for a refund. It has been a month since my initial, polite request. While I have remained polite, yet insistent, that he return my money, he has grown increasingly hostile, calling me "white trash," accusing me of breaking the improperly sized bracelet, and informing me that I am no longer welcome in his store. In addition to the bracelet, I spent over $4000 on apparel, and though I now realize his items are significantly overpriced, I am pleased with those items and shared this freely with Mr. Sassila in the hopes of prodding him to act from a sense of honor. Did I overpay for other items? Yes, but that's on me. Caveat emptor. But did I improperly resize the bracelet I purchased? No, I did not. Indeed, had the bracelet been available for pick up when Mr. Sassila promised it would be, none of this would have occurred, as I would have seen immediately that the bracelet was too small.
As Mr. Sassila has yet to issue a refund, I have now filed a dispute with my credit card company, and if need be, I will contact the appropriate legal authorities in Santa Fe and alert them that Mr. Sassila has engaged in fraud.
Bottom line? Do your shopping elsewhere. Mr. Sassila is not a merchant who runs his business in an...
Read moreUpon entering the shop we were blatantly ignored by the two front employees, while they ate Doritos and snickers. After wandering to the back and browsing the fur section the owner graced us with her presence while informing us about the sale. Without a moments hesitation she said “Unless you’re planning on buying, do not touch any of the clothes.” In a very condescending tone. My boyfriend and I were planning on a purchase but after looking at her gaudy, overpriced clothing and hearing that disrespectful comment we marched right out of the shop. Later on we went to lots of other nice boutiques that allowed us to touch clothes (wow! They were normal nice shops!), and even try them on before buying. I do not recommend going to this store. Poor customer service, not nice clothing, and a bad...
Read moreYes , we're currently having a similar bad experience with kaldoun and the manager of the mens shop.. We bought a pair of pants (among other things) and the pants were to be hemmed and shipped. After several months of follow up they finally sent pants but the wrong ones in the wrong size. They then said to ship them back and they would refund the money. It's been more than a month since we returned the pants and the refund has still not posted. They keep saying "tomorrow". I wish we had read these reviews before shopping there. But I'm glad to read the idea about working through the credit card...
