I absolutely love this company, their art, and most of all what they stand for. I ordered a beautiful piece online and received a personal confirmation email immediately from Frank Rose (the curator/owner!). I received it within 3 days.
I have been looking to support local indigenous artists but it's tough in Eastern NY because most of the native peoples were decimated in war or pushed to reservations. So looking nationwide, Hecho a Mano has one of the best compilations of local, native art I could find.
Not only does this company promote local Tewa artists and culture, but it also fights against theft of indigenous art as a part of present colonization as well as appropriation by art galleries and organizations.
And lastly, Hecho a Mano supports Tewa Women United, which seeks to end violence against Tewa women and girls, a cause that needs more attention.
