Improv is a risk, both for the performer and the audience. Attending a performance by the thespians of Drunk Theatre Co. brought me back to my riskiest days, like when I convinced a pack of hyenas to accept me as one of their own, or when I boarded a yacht owned by a man I didn’t know except that his name was Jeffrey. The play went to the outer reaches of drama, to the distant horizons of comedy, and yet was masterfully reeled in like only the heroes of Deadliest Catch or Drunk Theatre company possibly could. Read moreThis was honestly fantastic. Improv can be so hit or miss, and this was a HIT. They improvised two, 30-min plays and they were both not just incredibly funny, but had cohesive storylines. The ensemble was so tight - no weak links, no one trying to steal the spotlight. I realize that it's improv so by definition who knows what'll happen when the reader shows up (hi), but with such a strong ensemble, you're probably in for a solid time. And by the same token, it's pretty fun that you could swing by any Friday night and see totally brand new storylines.
