Trader Joe's — Local services in Santee

Growing up in Santee, a well known phrase has always been "all we need is a Trader Joe's, then we'll have everything you could ever need". Unfortunately, moving out of CA in 2020, I never saw this dream fulfilled.

Today my boyfriend and I came back to visit our old home and I was thrilled to visit this Trader Joe's! I dont often shop at Trader Joe's but when I do, I'm a kid in a candy store, energy is HIGH.

After walking in and getting more excited over the seasonal Ube and Strawberry selections, I walked past Kevin, who was stocking shelves. He promptly asked me if I needed help finding anything and I told him no thank you, I'm just thrilled to look at everything and happy to explore all the new stuff. Thanking him for the offer.

Kevin must have noticed my excitement and found me 5 mins later WITH FLOWERS YALL! 💐 This sweet man said he wanted to gift me some flowers after our short interaction. This little gesture 1. Made my bf a little jealous, which was hysterical 2. Surprised and delighted me 3. Made another lasting memory in a place that holds my heart with childhood nostalgia.

Customer service at this location is at its worst, not only employees talking their personal stuff out loud are on your way when they are supposed to be "stocking" , oh and they don't move you have to walk around them but now cashiers walk out of you when they are ringing you up because they just didn't like you. One of this ridiculous cashiers got mad at me because I just wanted to bag my groceries He decided to card me, I was buying wine. It's okay to card people when they look younger than 35/45 I am 70!!!!!!! He said " it is the law" I asked him sure I want you to tell me what exactly the law says, he couldn't take it and walked away from the cashiers. A lady manager took over without understanding what just happened, I explained, I wasn't very impressed with the manager either, eventually she apologized not sincerely. For the upper management, piece of advice, keep going like this here in Santee, and trust you will not be successful in this community

I visit Trader Joe's weekly. It's so very convenient. Plenty of parking shelves are nicely stocked great variety of food. Checking out is a breeze. Unlike other places TJ has several check out cashiers. AND Need a hand with taking cart out to your car. Team members like Daniel Kevin are so kind in getting my cart to my car and unloading the items into the car. Plus they are super kind. There are so many team members who are Friendly, kind and willing to help. KUDOS TO TJ for having such excellent team members. OH you gotta go to their fresh salad section and bottled water that is just as refreshing as the "smart" water.... but only Tj's water is less expensive.
