The owner STOLE my pictures I brought in including one that is very valuable to me, and refused to give them back, because he insisted on holding this weird grudge. I mistook him for a businessman and tried to find an amicable solution going forward… and he was the absolute rudest, most unpleasant, and unprofessional person I think I’ve ever spoken to.
His grudge was because I decided against paying $200-$300 (his cheapest option) to frame 3 small pictures that i paid $3 total for on Temu (these were 8x8 or smaller). I came back LESS THAN an HOUR later to cancel the framing part of my order, but I still wanted to pay for him to replace the glass on the much larger, already-framed picture I brought in, which was a gift from a family friend. He got upset, telling me he already ordered them but he made no effort to call them back and cancel (as there was no way they already shipped them out). I work in purchasing and deal with many suppliers, I’ve never encountered single one that would balk at reversing an order that quickly after placement. There wouldn’t even be a restocking fee because it probably hadn’t even moved within the warehouse yet, let alone already be on a truck.
Then is when I tried various ways to find a fair solution for us both and calm him down, but instead of countering or even considering any offer, he focused on throwing what I can only describe as some kind of fit, insulting my mother, and insisting on keeping ALL of my pictures, even my unrelated one with the broken glass I was still willing to pay for.
He made it clear it wasn’t about business, but personally to spite me, when he said, to my face, that would rather lose money selling it than let me pay extra for repairs, or even give it back to me unfixed BECAUSE i pissed him off. I PROMISE you, he TOLD me the reason he now wouldn’t do the job OR return my property was because of personal spite.
I advise you strongly not to take your business here, but if you do, ask the person you’d be dealing with if they are the owner. If he says yes, don’t run, calmly turn around and SPRINT...
Read moreTerrible experience. I had a couple of unusual pieces of art to find frames for and need the help of an experienced, professional framer. This guy was not that. He just tossed a couple of frames on the counter and kept asking me what I wanted. I explained that I didn't know what would look best and needed a good framer to give advice. It was clear the only experience he had was in framing easy pieces. I would not recommend this framer for a professional artist. He is either too new in the business or just doesn't care. I did, however, find a framer at another store that knew how to solve the problem and gave me...
Read moreI have had Marc frame at least 20 different pieces of artwork in the 12 years we've lived in Sarasota. He always does a beautiful job for a reasonable price. He also has a great sense of humor, so it's a pleasure visiting his shop. Marc has beautiful taste, if you tell him the type of style you like. For instance, we have modern or contemporary preferences for our home here, and rustic modern for our moutain home. He always knows just the thing! Since it's just him in the shop, do try to be understanding. If several customers are waiting, either look around his interesting little store or come back later....
