After 22 years, my wife and I decided to put our home up for sale. Surprisingly, this was the first time we have ever sold a house. Paul la Mastra was referred to us by a trusted friend. From the initial introduction, I knew Paul was a straight shooter. He was down to earth and realistic with managing expectations. After several meetings, we came up with a game plan including staging, repairs, timeline and the price. He made the process seamless and gave us realistic expectations and set reasonable goals. On the day of the open house, we had over 60 showings and by the end of the showcase we had 10 solid offers. Paul reviewed each offer with us and explained the “highest” might not always be the best. Many factors went into decided which was the strongest offer. Paul guided us and we decided on which offer to accept. The first phase was complete but Paul’s expertise, commitment and dedication to closing the sale really came to fruition after the contract was signed. We came into many obstacles with the home inspection including probably one of the worst scenarios you can encounter an old oil tank under the porch. This was an absolute nightmare. We had no idea it was there and if you research this it could be a disaster. Paul calmed both sides down and we formulated a plan. Luckily, the tank was removed and no contamination. There were a couple other issues that Paul helped us work through. If I could use one example of Paul’s commitment to his clients it would be this. We were currently living in PA. The day before the open house, Paul texts me “Hi John, I cleaned the windows in your son’s room and changed the lightbulbs in the bathroom”. To me, that is was an indication that we choose the right agent. From lightbulbs to navigating a potential oil tank nightmare- Paul was there the entire process. He answered every frantic call and answered every crazy question and “what if” email. I highly recommend Paul, but after you meet him, I’m sure you will come to the same conclusion. Good luck on your house endeavors. ~...
Read moreTheir agents are incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was told that I needed to fill out and pay for an application on an apartment before the agent would ever even show me the rental property. He then told me that I have to do this because he was unwilling to waste his time showing me a property, in case I decided not to rent property through him. All of this prior to ever even seeing the rental property. Then, I mentioned that a family member of mine is a real estate agent ( in a different state) because I was trying to understand the differences in policy, he interrupted me before hearing my entire statement and said ,“Then why don’t you have her show you property!” And proceeded to hang up on me.
If this is how they are going to treat new clients that are seriously interested in looking and renting/buying property, then I would most definitely not recommend wasting your time or energy with real estate agents that are so...
Read moreDon Lamastra was the listing agent for the sale of our mother’s house in Scotch Plains. He got the house on the market in a matter of a few days. There were quite a few excellent offers and Don helped guide us through choosing the best buyer for the house. He is extremely knowledgeable of the housing market and his expertise helped us get the best price. Don went out of his way making sure we accomplished what needed to be done on our end as the sellers. I would highly recommend him and ERA...
