It’s been about 10 years since I was last PROFILED bc I’m heavily tattooed. Spent a couple hours in this store as I’d never been or visited. I found a section with a lot of bracelets and necklaces I loved and was holding them or had them openly displayed on my wrist since I didn’t know they had baskets. (It’s my first time remember)…I was approached by security & asked if I was going to pay for my items…??? Of course I am. She asked to look in my hoodie pocket, which I revealed & only contained my phone. (Strike 1) I told her I could have them hold the items at front & she told me I needed to check out. Even tho I was still looking around. ??? I said no, I’m still looking around. Items were taken up front (which should have just easily been agreed to) (strike 2)….i continued to look around, and eventually checked out up front, spending almost $200 in said shop. When I was going to leave I was asked to look in my purse & take off my shoes bc I was told I was “seen shoplifting”…WHICH I COMPLIED & nothing was found. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS…I wish I asked to see “said surveillance” or completely undressed myself…cuz WOW. Make sure you ACTUALLY SEE SOMETHING before you throw around accusations.
…and at this point I felt HARASSED & was completely embarrassed & mortifird. Security was rude & condescending the entire time, even tho I complied THE ENTIRE TIME. I’ve worked retail. Maybe ASK to hold my items up front before coming up to me accusing me of shoplifting bc you look REAL DUMB when I prove you otherwise. Safe to say I don’t react well to HARASSMENT & will no longer be shopping here, which is unfortunate for the small businesses that work out of here. And as someone who owns their own small business with a large social media following, I’ll be sure to let everyone know how you treat your customers. You may have just been “doing your job” but I’m here to tell you as a customer & former retail worker to DO BETTER & work on your...
Read moreOn Friday, April 11th at approximately 4:30 PM, I visited the Painted Tree location in Scottsdale, Arizona. What should have been a pleasant shopping experience turned into an incredibly disappointing and unprofessional encounter.
As I approached the checkout area to complete my purchase, I was greeted by a strawberry blonde employee whose tone was immediately off-putting. She said, “I’ll help you here,” in an oddly dismissive manner that lacked basic courtesy. During our brief interaction, I mentioned a $20 pillow I was interested in, and she then casually remarked that she “hates customers.” When I expressed surprise, she attempted to justify her comment by adding, “the mean ones.”
To say I was dumbfounded would be an understatement. The fact that any employee representing your establishment would speak so negatively about customers—especially to a customer—is simply unacceptable. I was appalled by the complete lack of professionalism, tact, and respect.
I chose to leave my cart behind and walked out, deciding that I will no longer patronize the Painted Tree. The experience was unethical, unprofessional, and wholly disappointing. If this is the standard of customer service being allowed or overlooked, it is deeply concerning.
Please consider this my formal complaint, which I will also be sharing with the Better Business Bureau and other public platforms.
Sincerely, A Very Disappointed...
Read moreI think it is a cool concept to have a large marketplace/ warehouse where local artisans can sell their arts and crafts. Unfortunately the customer service is really lacking and is a disservice to the artisans who depend on them to represent them and sell their wares. Several months ago, I bought 4 pieces of art there. There were 2 young ladies who worked there, and it was obvious they were having a private conversation behind the counter, rather than helping customers. I approached them to say I was interested in buying a few pieces. And the 1 young lady said, "Feel free to take down what you want." I said, "I can't reach some of them." And she replied. "I will get you a ladder." I said, "But I am wearing heels and don't feel comfortable climbing a ladder." She then said, "ok, I will get it down for you." That was the first issue: telling the customer to climb a ladder in heels and take down a piece of artwork. 2nd issue: they poorly wrapped the art pieces I bought in thin paper, and later that day, the handle of the plastic bag they put the pieces in broke and 1 of the art pieces was damaged. I would not recommend this place because of their poor customer service and 2 day return policy. I never tried to return the art piece because it broke when I was already taking it out of my car, so I was stuck with a broken...
