SO DISAPPOINTING!! I honestly cannot believe the good reviews. I guess growing up in NYC and spending time in Italy, I actually know what good Italian food and a good experience at a restaurant is like.
Here it starts with stale cold bread on the table, which we asked to be warmed. The waiter asked if we wanted it toasted. Sure. It comes out cold and slightly toasted. Yuck.
With a menu that offers veal, chicken, eggplant Parmigiana 'house special" for $19.95, should I have figured that the eggplant rollatini dinner would cost more ??... and actually be $28.95 ???? Shame on me for not asking when I ordered it, but SHAME ON YOU for not having the price on the menu.
It came out barely warm and the cheese seemed to have been frozen and defrosted. Is spinach usual for this dish or did they just run out of fresh basil? (the menu did not have the correct description and our waiter told us that it was a misprint but didn't describe how it actually was made, we just didn't want the anchovies that the menu listed -- blech). I've had eggplant rollitini in NYC and in Italy and this was the worst ever. So mediocre. Should I have asked for it to be made hot? Perhaps, but I wasn't sure what would happen to my food if I made such a request (I've heard stories in other places). It had with it some chewy bow pasta. (Did that justify the meal being $10 more than one of their parmesan house specials? Uh, no.)
Even so, I was okay with the mediocre food because of the company I was with (the waiter was pleasant from the start and we did not express any of our dismay to him), but when the check came (that was barely legible with nothing itemized), it was utter shock!!! What a racket ... and they only take cash!!! You might find something you like here, but no price on the menu definitely means we are going to rip you off! So ASK before ordering. After an absolutely wonderful visit to Scottsdale this awful experience could've ruined everything. Never again. Live and Learn. I usual only post good reviews but I couldn't not share...

Read moreOn April 19th of 2020 while looking for a different Italian restaurant which we forgot was the name, we happened upon Giuseppe's. I told my wife let's just go here, how bad could it be? Pawn being seated we were told that a few items on the menu we're not available, it just so happened that those were the items we were trying to order. Still, we were able to order alternative menu items. The salad was great and the meatball sandwich was so so, at least in our opinion. But when it came time to pay, I went to pay with a debit card as I usually do and is available just about everywhere in the valley. At that time I was told that they do not accept plastic, and I rarely ever carry cash on me and did not have any on me at this time. Had to leave my wife at the restaurant while I went looking for a bank or a store that I can get cash to pay. As far as I could tell there was no posting on the front door, or on the register that they did not accept credit cards. It was on the menu at the very bottom in very small letters. Who reads that? I will never go back to that place again, and have already spread the word. By the way a place we were looking for Guido's Italian delicatessen. The owner, seemed indifferent to the fact that we could not pay with plastic, though he did offer that we could pay him next time. That was a little embarrassing with two policemen eating in this establishment at that time. Of course I would not leave without paying, but my wife had to wait while I went to a circle k and had to pay a dollar to get $40 over. I'm sure that Giuseppe's is a very popular place but I will never go nor will I ever...
